Este conjunto se compone de cuatrotambores: tambor segundo, tambor tercero,
caja y bajo; los tres primeros se tocan conunospalos sobre unode susparches,mientras que el tamborbajo seejecuta a mano limpia,adems van acompaadosde dos agogs y un giro.Los tambores Iyes tienenforma cilndrica y son bimembranfonos; estn hechos de troncos de cedroahuecados.

Son variados, se pueden ver hechosdetroncosdepalmaotambindebarrilesdeenvaseysepuedenafinardediferentes formas, tanto por mediacindecandelaoportensinalestilode los tambores Iyes.

De cada toque trataremos algunasversionesovariantes,locualnosdarlafacilidaddedesarrollarmuchomejornuestraindependencia, esto se debe a que cada toque
tienediferentes formasdeejecutarseydonde adems de la batera se emplean otrosinstrumentos como campanas, jam block,etc.,pudindosetocarlomismoconlamanoqueconelpisegnlopidaeltoque.

Los toques afrocubanos llevados aldrums son utilizados con frecuencia por losbateristascubanosespecialistasenelgnero,suelenhacerloenestiloscomoelLatinJazz,laTimbacubanay lamsicamodernaengeneral.
La batera afrocubana es un instrumentomuy complejoque requiereunagranindependencia por parte del instrumentista,puestoqueesunamezclacompuestapor latcnica del drums americano y el llamadoconcepto negro de lamsica afrocubana.Esportodoelloqueestegneroexigeunestudiometiculosoyconstantequenoslleveadominarcompletamenteeltoque.
Recomiendoescucharmuchamsica,puesto que nos ayudar en gran medida aadentrarnos en este concepto, y a ejecutarcadagolpecomosiestuviramosviviendoen
aquella
poca,
cundo
los
esclavos
no
tenan

Wewilllookatsomevariationsofeveryrhythm,sothatwedevelopour independence.Every rhythm has different ways of beingperformed, and in thedrum setwealsohave

instruments,
such
as
the
bells,
the
jam
block,
etc.,sothatwecanplaythesamerhythmwiththehandorwith the foot, according towhattherhythmrequires.
Once we control and are able to performeveryrhythmwell,wecanbegintointroducethemintothetunesofLatinorAfrocubanJazz.Wewant to alwaysmake sure that it iswithin themusical conceptof the tune, thereforewewill lookatthetimesignatureandthe
styleweareplaying.
TheAfrocuban rhythms played on thedrum set are often used by Cuban drummerswho specialized in thegenre.They tend todothis in styles like LatinJazz, the Cuban Timbaandmodernmusicingeneral.
TheAfrocubandrumset isaverycomplex instrumentwhich requiresgreat indepen
dence
on
the
part
of
the
player,
since
it
is
a
mix

El autor nos propone el estudio de la Armona Tonal, desde la misma base, con una perspectiva metodolgicainnovadora y actual.
La 'sintaxis' y funciones armnicas estn siempre presentes desde los comienzos y una excelente 'Iniciacin alContrapunto Libre a 2 voces' prepara al alumno para el entrena-miento auditivo armnico, la 'conduccin' de las voces y las prin-cipales notas de adorno, y as poder abordar ms eficientementeel estudio de la Armona.
