Yellowstone & Glacier Adventure

Day 1 - Depart Chicago aboard the California ZephyrMeet your tour manager and fellow travelers before boarding the California Zephyr for an afternoon departure. Explore the double-decker Superliner, or visit the glass-walled Sightseer Lounge car to watch the changing scenery. Overnight train. (D)

Day 2 - California Zephyr to Salt Lake CitySweeping vistas of the Colorado Rockies come into view this morning. Keep your camera handy as the California Zephyr heads toward the Continental Divide. The train arrives in Salt Lake City this evening, at which time you are transferred to your hotel. Overnight DoubleTree by Hilton, Salt Lake City, UT. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Salt Lake City SightseeingYour morning begins with a guided tour of Salt Lake City. The most famous site, Temple Square, is highlighted by the Gothic spires of the Salt Lake Temple. Utah’s State Capitol, the Great Salt Lake and sites from the 2002 Winter Olympic Games are other stops. Enjoy lunch with the group before an afternoon and evening of leisure. Day 4 - Jackson, WyomingAfter breakfast at your hotel, your motorcoach heads to Montpelier, ID for a visit to the National Oregon/California Trail Center, where we learn about this historic pioneer route. Continue to Jackson, WY for the night. Overnight The Lodge at Jackson Hole, Jackson, WY. (B)

Day 5 - Grand Teton National ParkThe cornerstone of today’s excursion is Grand Teton National Park. Highlights of the day include the Chapel of Trans!guration, a rustic log church in an idyllic setting with breathtaking views of the Tetons; lunch in the Mural Room at Jackson Lake Lodge. Later, we head to Yellowstone National Park. Your accommodations for the next three nights are located inside the park. You are on your own this evening to relax or explore. Day 6 - Yellowstone National ParkToday’s guided adventure of Yellowstone National Park takes you to Madison Junction, with its scenic forests and meadows all the way to Norris Geyser Basin.

Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Tower Falls are highlights. Lunch is on your own before a tour of Artist Point, Inspiration Point and the Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River this afternoon. Be on the lookout for the myriad species of wildlife while we tour. Overnight Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone, WY. (B)

Day 7 - Yellowstone National Park SightseeingToday’s excursion takes you on a spectacular drive through the Hayden Valley, a region of lush forests and meadows. The highlight of the day is a visit to Old Faithful. We also explore the Fountain Paint Pots and hot springs before returning to the hotel. There is an included dinner this evening. Overnight Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone, WY. (D)

Day 8 - Glacier National ParkBoard the motorcoach to continue to East Glacier Park, MT. Scenic stops are planned along the way, so you can capture the beauty of the mountains. Arrive in Glacier National Park, and check into your hotel. Overnight Glacier Park Lodge, East Glacier, MT. (B)

Day 9 - Glacier National Park SightseeingExperience Glacier National Park’s pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains and spectacular lakes

today. We travel along the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road aboard a historic Red Jammer Bus, with a stop for independent lunches at Lake McDonald Lodge. The drive covers 50 miles and o"ers mountain scenery and abundant wildlife. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight Glacier Park Lodge, East Glacier, MT. (D)

Day 10 - Empire Builder to ChicagoThe Empire Builder departs this morning from the East Glacier Park Amtrak station and is bound for Chicago. Settle into your seat, and enjoy views of the badlands of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. Overnight train. (B, L, D)

Day 11 - Tour ConclusionThe Empire Builder is scheduled to arrive at Chicago’s Union Station this afternoon, where your tour comes to an end. (B, L)
