How plants grow

ReadingWe will be learning about:● how to read fluently and answer

comprehension questions about what we have read.

● In RWI (read, write inc) we will be developing our phonetic knowledge and skills.

● In SFA (success for all), we will be looking at texts in more detail, unpicking the meaning behind what is written.

● We will be selecting books from our reading corner to read at home and at school.

MathsWe will be learning about:● Mental strategies for Addition

and subtraction. This will include number bonds to ten strategy, as well as round and adjust and near doubles strategies.

● We will also explore money, coins and notes and their associated values

● We will apply our understanding to solve addition and subtraction word problems.real life problems involving money.

Writing We will be writing about:● “Meerkat mail” by Emily gravett

during our writing weeks.● We will be focusing on learning

the features of non chronological texts.

● we will be using subordination and coordination to extend our sentences.

● We will be developing our understanding of grammar and punctuation to write more detailed sentences.

Religious EducationWe will be learning about:Christian traditions at lent and easter.We will be reading stories of Jesus’s death and resurrection.Also exploring how the symbols of easter are associated with endings and new beginnings.

ComputingWe will be learning about:creating and editing original content for a given purpose using digital technology and paying attention to the intended audience.

Physical EducationWe will be learning about:Our sport coaches will be teaching PE every Tuesday- Please ensure children wear their PE kit on that day.

Our topic this term is hit,catch and run. This will help us to develop skills for fielding, identify roles as batters and fielders and introduce the concept of simple tactics.

Home LearningYou can help me at home by:● Practicing my number bonds with

me to 10 and 20. (e.g. 8 + ? = 10, 14 + ? = 20)

● practising my 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables at speed.

● Ensuring I complete and fill in the ‘Reading Journal’.

● practising spellings for our weekly test.
