The QCE is Queensland's senior school qualification and is awarded to eligible students usually at the end of Year 12.
Every young Queenslander must be registered with the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA) to bank credits towards their QCE.
Year 10 students at Woodcrest are already registered with QCAA and have been allocated an identity number called a Learner Unique Identifier (LUI).
ALL year 10 students require a USI (Unique Student Identifier) to enrol in any VET course.
QCE Learning options and requirements
The subjects and certificates which you study in years 11 and 12 count towards your QCE, as do any certificate courses in which you might enrol at TAFE or WesTEC.
School based apprenticeships or traineeships also contribute.
Every year 10 student at Woodcrest is already enrolled in Certificate II Skills for Work & Vocational Pathways which will count towards your QCE.
.
To be awarded a QCE, you must
Earn least 20 credit points - each subject exited at a C level or higher that you study for the full two years of years 11 & 12 is worth 4 QCE points. A completed Certificate II is also worth 4 points. Certificate III may be worth up to 8 QCE points.
Meet a Literacy and Numeracy standard. The easiest way of doing this is to successfully complete (i.e. Achieve a C or higher) one semester of a year 11;12 English subject and one semester of a year 11;12 Maths subject
Senior Program
All students study the equivalent of six subjects.
Mandatory Subjects
English (General) or Essential English (Applied)
And
General Maths or Mathematical Methods (General) or
Essential Maths (Applied)
Subject Types 1. General subjects – 21st century skills — the attributes and skills students need to prepare them for higher education, work and engagement in a complex and rapidly changing world. These include critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration and teamwork, personal and social skills, and information & communication technologies (ICT) skills. These subjects require you to demonstrate an A;B level of achievement in year 10. 2. Applied subjects – underpinned by applied learning — the acquisition and application of knowledge, understanding and skills in real-world or lifelike contexts community connections — the awareness and understanding of life beyond school through authentic, real-world interactions by connecting classroom experience with the world outside the classroom core skills for work — the set of knowledge, understanding and non-technical skills that underpin successful participation in work.
3. Vocational certificates which form part of the Australian Educational Qualification Framework. Certificates are provided by a registered training organisation (RTO). Woodcrest is an RTO for some certificates but uses private providers for other certificates. RTOs generally charge a fee for their service.

An Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) allows tertiary admission centres to compare students across Australia when they apply for tertiary places. The ATAR is a number between 0 and 99.95 in increments of 0.05.
Follow the Tertiary Pathway , choose and complete 5 General subjects OR 4 General subjects plus one Applied subject or Certificate III or higher. If you make subject changes at a later date, at least 3 subjects must be studied for the full 2 years
You may also find a pathway to university if you do not get an ATAR by firstly completing a tertiary preparation program after year 12 or by following a TAFE pathway and completing certificate III;IV or diploma courses.
How do I get an ATAR?
