COMMUNION TO THE SICK is taken by Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist on a regular basis to those confined to their homes. Please call the Parish Center.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM is celebrated on most Sundays at 1:30 PM (not during Lent). A family must be registered in the parish, attend the baptismal preparation class, and cooperate with the regulations established by the parish. Our baptismal class is held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8:00 PM, in the Augustine Room. Please call the Parish Center to register any time during your pregnancy.

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is celebrated on Saturday between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Chapel or by appointment.

THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION is celebrated once a year, here at St. Augustine. A candidate must successfully complete our Religious Education program. Adult Confirmation is held on Pentecost Sunday and any interested adults should contact the Parish Center.

THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK is administered at home to any Catholic who is seriously ill. Please call the Parish Center. Any parishioner admitted to a local hospital should contact the Catholic Hospital Chaplain through the hospital. A family member should contact the parish when someone is admitted to the hospital. We will gladly pray for any members who are sick, whether at home or in the hospital, at our Sunday Masses; however, it is necessary for the family to “request” it.

THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY is celebrated by the Pastor or one of our deacons. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Only a ceremony is permitted on Sunday. The pastor will confirm the date so couples should contact the Parish Center at least ONE YEAR in advance. All the necessary information will be sent to you. The attendance at Pre-Cana or an Engaged Encounter Weekend is required. One must be a registered member of the parish.

The Liturgy of the Hours is prayed Monday through Saturday at 8:45 AM prior to Mass.

Novena in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is prayed on Saturday following the 9:00 AM Mass in the chapel.

The First Profession of Vows by Sr. Natasha Roig, FMA

On Thursday, August 5, 2021, Sr. Natasha Roig, daughter of Bernardo and Astrid, and sister of Carmelina and Alejandro completed her First Profession of Vows as a Salesian Sister at St. Anthony Church in Hawthorne, NJ.

Sr. Natasha is a graduate of St. Augustine of Canterbury School , Class of 2007. She graduated from Franklin High School and went on to graduate from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Elementary Education and Spanish and a Master of Arts in Teaching.

Please keep Sr. Natasha and the Roig Family in your prayers as she continues her discernment and work toward her Perpetual Vows during the next six to nine years. This is when she will promise to live her life as a Salesian Sister forever. She will then joyously spend her whole life in the service of the Church bringing Christ to the young.

Heavenly Father, you consecrated me in baptism and now, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you call me to follow Jesus Christ more closely, in order to share more intimately in his mission in the Church.

In response to your love, I bind myself to live the Beatitudes of the Kingdom radically, in communion with my Sisters, proclaiming Christ to young people according to the spirit of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello.

Today, before the community and all here present, I, Natasha, freely and entirely give myself to you. I make the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience for one year in the hands of Sr. Joanne Holloman, delegate of the Superior General according to the evangelical way traced our by the Constitutions of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

MEDITATION FOR August 15, 2021

Mary, cause of our joy, pray for us. The infant Jesus in Mary’s

womb was a cause for joy Elizabeth and John, her unborn son. Christ is present in us through the gift of the Eucharist. Where is our joy? Does it overflow and draw others to know and love Mary’s Son, Jesus? Mary is our model and our aid. She delights to intercede that all may trust Jesus.

John’s vision from Revelation tells of a great sign, a woman clothed with the sun and the dragon who stood ready to devour her child. God protected both mother and son. In the second reading, Paul encourages the Corinthians: as Christ has destroyed death, so through his resurrection, his believers, will be brought to life at the proper time. In the Gospel, Mary travels to visit Elizabeth. When Mary greets her, the infant in Elizabeth’s womb leaped for joy.

PARISHIONER?

If you recently moved into the area and have not yet registered in the parish, we encourage you to become a registered member. Ask an usher for a registration packet after Mass or stop by or call the

Parish Office to obtain one.

Once registered, you will receive quarterly mailing of parish offertory envelopes. The use of an Offertory envelope helps us to track Mass attendance which affects your status as an active or inactive parishioner. Mass attendance, not the content of the offertory envelope, is reviewed twice a year and a letter is sent to those who have not used their envelopes in that specified time period.

Be advised, once an individual reaches the age of 18 (even if still living in the Family home), they are considered to be an adult and need to register in the parish as such. Thank you for being alert to this important matter.

Do you know of a family member who is homebound? Is there a fellow parishioner you know is unable to attend Mass, but wishes to receive the Holy Eucharist?

The Month of October –

Our Lady of the Rosary

Parish Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima

The old Church of Saint Augustine contained a beautiful statue in honor of Our Lady of Fatima! Many years ago we started the tradition of having the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima being hosted in the homes of our parish families to further devotion to our Blessed Mother! On Sunday, October 10th, 2021 at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, we will rededicate the Pilgrim Statue and once

again it will begin its journey throughout our parish. Every registered parish family is invited to host the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady! True devotion to our Blessed Mother always brings one closer to the Heart of her son!

The statue is approximately 3 feet tall and is hand-carved of wood, (light weight). The statue comes from Fatima, Portugal, where the Blessed Mother appeared to the three shepherd children, Lucy, Jacinta and Francesco. The apparitions took place in 1917 and the final apparition took place on October 13th. Our Lady encouraged devotion to her Immaculate Heart, to pray in reparation for sin, and to meditate on the Mysteries of the Rosary. We pray that many

will feel moved to host the Pilgrim Statue in their home. Don’t let having young children deter you from having the statue of Our Lady in YOUR HOME! You will be able to have the statue for one week and it will be up to you to create your own prayer service privately, for your family or friends, whatever you wish! Please fill out the form and
