Message from the Head Teacher
Dear Parent/Carer,
School has been buzzing with
end of term fun and traditions
over the past 2 weeks. Year 5
held a very festive Jazzy
Christmas performance, Christmas cards have been
written and delivered and the school was literally
sparkling with all the Christmas jumpers this
Wednesday. An excellent Christmas lunch was
provided by Carla and the kitchen team and of course
Father Christmas visited children in the early years
and KS1
I want to thank the staff for their immense hard work
over this term. The days are short but the term is long
and staff are here often from 7 am to 6pm to make
sure their teaching and resources are ready and of the
highest quality for your children.

I know you will want to thank them, the biggest thanks
though will be ensuring your children READ EVERY
DAY in the holiday and that you encourage and praise
your children for doing this.
Thank you for your kind wishes as I prepare to leave
Kingsbury Green at the end of this term. I leave the
school in the extremely capable hands of Ms Reena
Shah as Acting Headteacher. She, with the excellent
leadership team, governors and staff will, without a
doubt, continue to take the school from strength to
strength.
It has been an absolute privilege to serve this
community as your Head teacher for the last 8 years.
Warmest wishes for the holiday season
Ms L Wynne
Headteacher
Message from the Governing Board of Kingsbury
Green Primary School
The Governing Board would
like to wish departing Head
Teacher Laura Wynne the
very best in her new role.
Since becoming a Governor
five years ago, I have
personally been impressed with Laura's commitment
to the school and its key values of empathy, agility and
hard work. She has worked tirelessly throughout her
time at KGPS to support the professional development
of the staff and give the pupils to attain their best
academic and personal success.
The contribution to the school has been immense, and
she will be greatly missed. It has been an honour to
work with Ms Wynne, and we wish her every success
in her new role.
The coming months will see a significant transition in
the school. The Governing Board has
worked with Reena Shah, who will be taking over
as Acting Head Teacher whilst we carry out the
recruitment process to replace Ms Wynne. We are
fully confident in her ability to step into this role, and
we are looking forward to working with her and the
rest of the Senior Leadership Team throughout the
rest of this academic year.

News and Events
TCB News
Thank you to the prospective parents that attended
the TCB open morning. It was lovely to meet you and
show you around our provision! If you would like to
view our provision for hearing-impaired pupils for the
September 2020 intake please arrange a visit with the
office.
The TCB hosted a
Christmas themed
outdoor learning day
for Deaf schools or
mainstream schools
with provisions for
children with hearing
impairments.
We had visitors from Blanche Neville school for the
Deaf, Hatch End High school, Kingsbury High school
and St. Augustine's CE High school. This is part of our
ongoing partnership work to establish positive peer to
peer relationships with other Deaf and Hearing
Impaired pupils across London as well as preparing our
Year 5 and Year 6 pupils for transition to high school.
Activities involved orienteering around our outdoor
area, creating outdoor art using natural materials,
making Christmas decorations and learning the BSL
version of the Christmas carol "We Wish You a Merry
Christmas with mince pies and oranges." All of our
guests throughly enjoyed their visit and getting to
know friends from other schools!
Children in the TCB visited
other deaf peers in the
Provision for Deaf Children at
Summerside Primary
Academy. They took part in a
range of Christmas activities
like designing Christmas
cards, etching Christmas tree
baubles and decorating the Christmas tree. This was a
great opportunity to catch up with the deaf peers we
made last year and to broaden our friendships.

All about our Learning
On Friday 6th Dec 6P and 6G travelled to the Tate
Modern in London to visit the Olafur Eliasson
exhibition. This contemporary artist creates
installations, photos and sculptures to raise questions
about climate change and our changing environment.
The children enjoyed interacting with the art works,
drawing from the sculptures and writing about the
photography. Their particular favourite was 'The Fog
room;' a long corridor filled with a water and sugar
mist! We had a very busy and inspiring day and many
thanks to all of our parent helpers who came along to
assist.
As musicians, we have been very busy heading
towards the end of term. Some of our instrumentalists
visited a local nursery to perform a concert for the
children and parents. They made us incredibly proud
and have been invited back to perform again in 2020!
Our steel pan group have also been busy bringing in
the festivities by playing Jingle Bells. They opened our
final singing assembly of 2019 in style!
Our Year 5s performed a Jazzy Christmas Concert
which they performed alongside a professional Jazz
Band.
Congratulations to Lea in Year 5 who has won our
recent song-writing competition, and will have her
song performed by the jazz band at the concert this
week!
Our singing has been very powerful over the last
month, with our EYFS learning all 8 Nativity songs for
their performance, the KGPS Choir learning their
Christmas Carols, and our KS2 singing the ultimately
powerful song, “Power In Me” by Rebecca Lawrence.
PSHE Open Morning
Thank you to the many parents who made time to
attend our recent meeting. It was good to hear your
views and it gave us the chance to explain the
curriculum to you. Our school is now using the Jigsaw
PSHE scheme which we have adapted to the needs of
5 | P a g e
our children and to meet the legislation. There will be
more meetings to keep parents informed as the year
progresses and we look forward to seeing you there.
In response to comments from the meeting, we will be
setting up some ICT training to help parents keep
children safe online using Parental Blocks. We will let
you know the dates when they are arranged.
We have recently had a series of talks from our local
Police Officer Rose Shepherd to support our work in
PSHE. She covered a range of topics from Keeping
Safe Online to Gang prevention.
Our next topic or puzzle in PSHE is called "Dreams
and Goals" where children have a chance to discuss
and think about overcoming obstacles which might
stop them achieving their dreams. They will look at
ways of breaking down goals into a number of
achievable steps and think of ways to keep positive on
their journey. The whole school will be covering this
topic so it would be good if your older children could
discuss the learning with their younger brothers and
sisters. Each class will produce some work for a whole
school display at the end of the half term. It will be on a
display board near the dining hall.
The Year 1 children
were so impressed by
the theatre
performance of “The
Pixie and the Pudding,”
they wanted to thank
all of the
actors/actresses who
took part in the show.
Eco Champion News
The Eco-champions have been researching the
shocking amount of waste produced during the festive
period. Read the poster to see the impact of an
unsustainable Christmas on the environment.
So deciding to build on the success of our campaigns in
2019, we would like to provide some tips on making
your Christmas more sustainable this year so we can
all continue supporting the environment throughout
the holidays.
6 | P a g e
You can still have an enjoyable Christmas without
contributing to all of this waste by following the tips in
the poster below. Together, these small changes we
make will have a huge impact on our journey to a more
sustainable world so that us and the animals we share
the world with can continue to thrive. The Eco-
Champions would like to thank you all for supporting
our campaigns this year and look forward to sharing
the next stage of our work with you in January! Merry
Christmas and Happy Holidays!
School Council
The children have
raised some money
for their chosen
charity (World
Wildlife Fund) on
Christmas Jumper
Day. Thank you for
your contributions. Watch out for more fundraising
events. (More photos on page 9)
In January there will be elections to choose new
members for the School Council. Please talk to your
child and encourage them to participate if they are
interested. They will need to prepare a short talk to
their class about why they would be good
representatives. Their classmates will then votes for a
boy and girl to be on the School Council.

Coming into school safely
School policy requires all children up to and including
Y4 to be accompanied all the way into school by an
adult or responsible person aged 14 years+. The adult
must stay with the child until the teacher collects the

into the dining hall or to class on mornings when there
is torrential rain or the playgrounds are deemed
unsafe due to ice/ snow. This is usually from 8.40am.

Christmas at Kingsbury Green Primary School
Well done to our School Council who stood outside in
the cold weather collecting money for our charities
“Save the Children” and “WWF” for Christmas Jumper
Day.
Our Kitchen served an amazing Christmas lunch on
Wednesday 18th December!
10 | P a g e
The last two weeks our seasonal post box has been
filling up with Christmas cards from children. We have
had a team of children who have been busy emptying,
sorting and delivering the cards. We have had our very
own postal service. Well done to all involved!
11 | P a g e
Our Nursery and Reception children performed the
Nativity play to their families. Well done to the
children for an outstanding performance!
12 | P a g e
Santa paid a surprise visit to our Reception and KS1
children! The children were pleasantly surprised and
asked Santa lots of intriguing questions.
Children enjoyed their class Christmas party on
Wednesday 18th December! Lots of food, fun and
laughter! Thank you to our parents/carers who
donated food and drinks so generously.
13 | P a g e
Staff at our school performed our Christmas Panto,
“Peter Pan” to all the children! More photos will be
uploaded on our website!

Good-bye Ms Wynne!
We gifted Ms Wynne a willow tree which we will plant
on our school grounds!
During some of our time in Art Enrichment club this
term, we worked together to create a picture for Ms
Wynne to take away with her as she leaves Kingsbury
Green Primary school.
As Miss Wynne loves sailing and the ocean, we made a
picture of boats on the choppy sea. First, we drew our
boats and used oil pastels, watercolours and collage to
add colour. For the sea, we used ink wash with salt and
wax resist. We hope you like it Ms Wynne!
Mrs Winsor-Richards and the Art Enrichment club.

Year 2 poem
Dear Ms Wynne, I hope you know,
We're very sad to see you go.
After 8 years, what a time it's been,
Now you say goodbye to Kingsbury Green.
Here's what we'd like to say to you:
We're grateful for the things you do.
You come in early, you go home late,
You put lots of vegetables on your plate.
You keep us children safe in school,
You always seem to keep your cool.
But in the end, the best of all,
You're kind, smart and very tall.
We'll miss you lots, we hope you know,
Thanks for helping us to grow!
Message from Year 3
Thanks for keeping the children safe in school and we
will miss you!
Dear Ms Wynne, I am going to miss you so much. I
would like to say thank you for all your hard work to to
and keep everyone safe in our school. You have been
such a kind teacher and I want to thank you for being
an amazing head teacher. Kingsbury Green Primary
School in the wide world. You have protected all of the
children in the school. I am upset that you will be
leaving us. Kiana
Goodbye song from Year 4
Message from Year 5
Welcome to today’s assembly, which is sadly our last
one with Miss Wynne. For those of you who don’t
know who we are: My name is Rebecca and I’m in 5BK
and my name is Yahya and I am in 5M. When we were
asked to perform this speech by Ms Kakkad, we felt
privileged that we could prepare it on behalf of all of
Year 5.
Ms Wynne has been our head teacher since we have
been at this school. And it is clear to the whole school
16 | P a g e
that she truly has been the best head teacher that we
could have possibly had.
Wait, wait, wait – how can she be the best head
teacher if she is the only head teacher that we have
had? Just kidding of course!
There are many reasons why we are going to miss you.
One of them is your assemblies that you deliver every
Monday. We know you probably stay up very late to
make them and we have really enjoyed them. All of
them are aimed to make us better citizens of the
school community as well as the wider community and
we hope you can leave this school knowing that you
have achieved this.
What about her generosity?
As a head teacher, you have to think very carefully
about how to use your budget. You somehow managed
to get us a beautiful playground with lots of new
equipment just so we can have some fun during our
playtime and lunchtime.
We know you are always busy, but whenever we have
had a problem, you have always gone above and
beyond to solve them so thank you for listening to us
in your so called ‘busy schedule’.
When we come back after the Christmas holidays, it
will be very weird not being welcomed by you every
morning. However, we know that we have Ms Shah
taking over who we all trust and believe in! From the
bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you and wish
you luck in your new school. Your new school is very
fortunate to have you as their new head teacher.
Message from Year 6
Dear Ms Wynne, a role model, a celebrity, a person
you would look up to, she has been kind and caring.
We would like to thank her for all the love and
support. Ms Wynne has been ground breaking for 8
years but overall she has been a kind person, and most
of all a role model.
