CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

Constructing a film is time consuming and takes effort as well as care, which is why we used specific types of equipment to help us create our production efficiently and effectively. The software that we used to edit our opening was ‘Final Cut Express’, we used this because it is a simple to use and a high quality program for editing footage. Through Final Cut we were able to add music and our voice over to accompany the scenes to create a number of effects such as humour and interest, we were also able to add credits so that the audience could be informed of the creators of the opening scene, the production company and most importantly the title of the film, we learnt how to use the software while doing the preliminary so that we could not make the same mistakes during final production. There were a variety of different shots and scenes that we had recorded during our production time. The software Final Cut endorsed us to review the footage we had which allowed us to finalize our decision we either had to keep or erase anything we had recorded, so we were eventually left with what we wanted to use in our opening scene.

The edit button was our best friend throughout the process. It’s what we used to edit our footage and this was a very useful part of the Final Cut software, another part of the software we used was the ‘cut’ tool, this was very easy to use as we could just click on it and then click on the piece of footage that we didn’t need and cut it out.

I now know how to use the software effectively in order to get the best possible results. The ‘select’ button and was what we had to used when finished using any of the buttons underneath it

The use of the 2 screens help me decide what to allow in the film and how it looked, I appreciated this section as it helped me cut and add effects easily and see how they look swiftly.

I feel that I have gained a lot of experience and managed to learn a lot of different things while using the big video camera, especially on the technological side. This is the only hardware we used between us and we all used it effectively since we had lots of practise from the preliminary task I took on a small role of the filming of our product, so it wasn’t used me as such but for the time I did I used it effectively against high light or low light to shoot the important shots, making sure they had the specific connotations. When using the big cameras, we realised the importance of them as they are worth a lot and have a lot of different buttons that perform various tasks which can change settings and potentially ruin your film, we had tape inside the camera so that everything recorded was saved onto the tape and we could then transfer that efficiently to an Apple Mac and begin the editing.

Starting a blog from scratch and using various software's such as Prezi, Slideshare and Vimeo to present my work in a visual way was challenging as I had to learn how to

use these effectively. I managed to create a variety of attractive posts that show my work on the blog. I feel

that this shows my creative side and analytical side by the work I have produced. Now that I have gained these

skills I can go on to apply them in other subjects and present them effectively because I am now at ease with

using them.

I used prezi, because it has templates you can manipulate to create effective presentations, with symbols and transitions.

I used vimeo, as it has a professional touch to it , and was very easy to use. I wanted to use it as it’s not YouTube and very different to it. Our production had aims of being different and this contributed to it.

Slideshare is the software that puts presentations like this into a simple and quick online setting. I used it frequentley as it was quite easy to use.
