ST. PIUS X, MIDDLETOWN
St. Pius Parish Mission Statement: We, a community of faith, have come together to respond to God’s invitation to become holy by living the Gospel. We strive to do this through our awareness of God’s presence, our sense of responsibility to one another, and our response to needs within and beyond the parish of St. Pius X.
“Love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)
God’s Plan for Giving
Week 49—June 10
2017 - 18 2016 - 17
Actual Sunday Offering $15,240. $13,744.
Electronic Giving—May $7,851. $6,548.
Tithing (Stewardship) is an important way to consecrate
ourselves to the Lord. Our gift is made holy because we
give thanks and praise to God without strings or conditions.
“Tithing ! Pung God First” ! “UNBOUND”: Once again
we had a fantasc response to Fr. Joe Gosselin’s appeal for
sponsors of children and adults through the UNBOUND
ministry. God connues to bless our parish through the
spirit of thing and stewardship that acknowledges that all
our blessings come from God and that we are grateful for
the privilege to share them to build up his kingdom. May
God connue to bless all who support our parish and its
good works. ! Fr. John

Announcements from the Diocese of Norwich The Combined Collection for World Charities will be held next weekend. Your contr ibutions will provide assistance to the Catholic Relief Services Collection, the Campaign for Human Development, Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, and The Holy Land. Most of you should have received information in the mail about this collection. Please read this material and bring your contribution envelope to Liturgy next week, June 23/24. Envelopes will also be available at all entrances of the Church. Your support and generously are essential to these programs of the Universal Church.
June is “Leave a Legacy” month in the Diocese of Norwich. It is a wonderful time to remind par ishioner s in the Diocese about the value of charitable estate planning. Some people choose to mark their legacy by requesting gifts, made in memoriam to their parish, school, ministry or the Diocese in lieu of flowers upon their passing. Others include a bequest in their will to their favorite Catholic organization. Still others are interested in establishing an endowment with the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Norwich to benefit a Diocesan organization. If you are interested in learning more about how you can leave your legacy and support all the good works that the Church is involved with, please contact Mary Ellen Mahoney, Development Manager at 860-886-1928 or memahoney@norwichdiocese,net.
IBDJBDK From the Pastor's Desk: ! 11
th Sunday ! The kingdom of God is great mystery. Like the grain that mysteriously grows, sprouts, and
yields fruit, and like the ny mustard seed, so too the kingdom of God grows mysteriously in magnificence and greatness. Through
these images and parables, Jesus helps us understand and enter into the mystery of his kingdom.
The R.C.I.A. (Rite of Chrisan Iniaon of Adults) is the process whereby adults, 7 years or older, who are not bapzed, were
bapzed in another Chrisan denominaon, or never completed their iniaon to the Catholic Church with Communion and
Confirmaon, are brought into the Church with the assistance of a team of parish staff and parishioners who serve as catechists,
mentors, sponsors and support members. Perhaps you have witnessed the joy of adult iniaon at an Easter Vigil service. If you
know of any adult who has not completed his/her iniaon (Bapsm, Confirmaon or Eucharist) into the Catholic Church who might
be interested in exploring the Catholic faith for this purpose, please have them contact the parish office or one of the parish staff
members for more informaon. Over the summer we reach out to anyone interested so that in September we can gather those
interested in finding out more about. Be sure to read over the flier in this week’s bullen concerning the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Chrisan
Iniaon of Adults). A5er the Bapsm of infants, it is the primary way that the kingdom of God connues to grow!
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in the community. This of course includes godfathers who also share the responsibility and
grace to nurture the life of faith that God has entrusted to them. May God bless our fathers both living and deceased and fill them
with his peace!
Peace and all good things!

Dear Parishioners, On behalf of Unbound, thank you very much for welcoming us to your
parish. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the generosity you have shown to the children, youth and the elders in our sponsorship program. Through your willingness to partner with Unbound, your parish community has taken steps toward a closer walk with Jesus in the name of the poor. We pray that members of your parish community who answered the call to sponsorship will be richly blessed by their experience.
