Be Kind and Merciful through the 2020 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal All parishioners will receive a mailing from the Diocese of Joliet this month about the 2020 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA). Our annual appeal is vitally important to not only the diocese, but also to our parish as well. The CMAA supports 30 ministries that benefit every parish and allow us all to Be Kind and Merciful to the most vulnerable in our community. Our parish’s goal for the 2020 CMAA is $67,800, and 70 percent of any amount we raise over our goal will be returned to us. This is a great opportunity for our parish! Please review the materials and then prayerfully reflect on your gift to this year’s annual appeal. If you do not receive a mailing from the diocese about the CMAA, please contact the parish office.

Please meet in the Parish office after 5:00 pm Mass.

Hosted by: CreativeH PE Creating, Praying, & Giving

For many years, St. Pius had an Environmental Awareness Committee that allowed parishioners to drop off many recycling items in the Mary Room to dispose of properly. They accepted batteries, expired and unused medications, Campbell soup labels, and box tops for education. We also collected unused and expired medications twice a year after all Masses. We no longer accept any of these items, because the committee no longer exists. Alkaline batteries can be safely disposed of with your household trash. Walgreens on Summit in Villa Park has a Kiosk where medications can be dropped off. Lombard Pharmacy also has a Kiosk. Box tops for education are now done online. Call the School for more information. The Campbell soup label program has ended. Call the Parish office if you have any other questions. Thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to the following St. Pius X Parish School alumni who attend Willowbrook High School for being named Illinois State Scholars:.

Chloe Devens, Elizabeth Florey, Kate Gargano, Vincenzo Ledonne, Luke Matasek, Fiona Murphy, Emily O’Brochta, Katherine Tortorici, and Clare Wangler.

Reflexión

1. Obedeciendo a Dios

VOCATION PRAYER CALENDAR God our Father, You made each of us to use our gifts in the Body of Christ. We ask that you inspire young people whom you call to priesthood and consecrated life to courageously follow your will. Send workers into your great harvest so that the Gospel is preached, the poor are served with love, the suffering are comforted, and Your people are strengthened by the sacraments. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Collection for the Church in Latin America Next week, we will take up the collection for the Church in Latin America. For many in Latin America and the Caribbean, a rising secular culture, difficult rural terrain, and a shortage of ministers all present obstacles to practicing the faith. Your support for the collection provides lay leadership training, catechesis, priestly and religious formation, and other programs to share our Catholic faith with those who long to hear the Good News of Christ. To learn more about how your gifts make a difference, visit www.usccb.org/latin-america.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity In honor of National Week of Christian Unity, all parishioners of the Eastern DuPage Deanery are welcome to join our Greek Orthodox neighbors as Father Andrew Georganas, Pastor of St. Demetrios in Elmhurst, gives us a tour of his church and leads a discussion on the differences and similarities between the Greek Orthodox Faith and Catholicism.
