GLEE HAS ARRIVED!GIFTED LOCAL ENDORSEMENT FOR EDUCATORS

Description and Definition of Local Endorsement:

Cabarrus County Schools, in compliance with the North Carolina Academically / Intellectually Gifted State

Standards, offers local training to classroom teachers working with gifted students.

This training, Gifted Local Endorsement for Educators (GLEE), is not comparable to AIG state licensure and is non-

transferrable.

GLEE for Middle School promotes basic understanding of the characteristics and social/emotional needs of gifted students as well as implementation of differentiated

content and instructional strategies for advanced learners.

Gifted Learner Profiles

1. With your group, read the Gifted Learner Profile

2. Use the chart paper to:

• Put Profile # in the top right-hand corner

• Make a "nickname" for your profile

• List Key Characteristics of your profile

• List ways in which we are currently meeting the needs of these students

• List any "gaps" we may currently have in meeting the needs of these students

PILOT YEAR BASIC FACTS

WHO? 4-6 teachers from each middle school.

WHY?Upon successful completion of the GLEE program, participants will earn 3 CEUs and a CCS Gifted Local

Endorsement certificate.

Administrators will be encouraged to place AIG students in GLEE endorsed teachers classrooms.

HOW?Participants will complete an Interactive Notebook filled

with tasks related to gifted education, and learn strategies for using Interactive Notebooks.

Participants will need to share textbooks in order to complete monthly readings.

GLEE Cohort Requirements:

Two whole group meetings with GLEE Cohort participants and Facilitators.

Meeting with the AIG chairs at your school at the end of each month to discuss the monthly activity, present any questions you have, and turn in your finalized tasks for the month

Turn in your completed Interactive Notebook (the product) in April as evidence of your work

Return the 3 books at the last GLEE Cohort meeting that were on loan to you to use as references.
