The United Methodist Men will meet on Sunday, September 7,

7:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We welcome Fred and Jayne

Thompson as our guest speakers! Both will share their

experiences while on the mission trip to Haiti in July 2014. As one of their

sponsors, we all look forward to hearing how they changed those they met and

what this experience meant to them! As many know, Fred is one of our UMM

and we’re proud to have him represent us on this wonderful trip. Please come to

hear Fred and Jayne! See Emmett Ellis if you have questions.

CIRCLE #1 will meet on Wednesday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. Contact

Betty Crews for more information about Circle #1 (993-2334).

CIRCLE #2 will meet Sunday night, September 7 at 5:30

p.m. for a cookout at the home of Sherry and Mike

Wagoner. In October we will meet on Monday night,

October 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Eva Rushing. We

will make Halloween bags for Forest Park Elementary

School. Contact Eva Rushing for more information about Circle #2 (869-6699).

THE BLAKE IDOL CIRCLE will meet of Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30

p.m. in the fellowship hall. Contact Sue Bridges for more information about the

THE SUNSHINE CIRCLE will meet on Tuesday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. in

you head out to shop for school, remember that Bunker Hill is

partnered with Forest Park Elementary School. Please consider

purchasing extra supplies that will come in handy during the

school year for both students and teachers.

in one of the collection containers at the area before our service begins.

UMC in Lewisville. We want to thank Kaylyn Smith and

BHUMC Choir for providing our special music for this

Monday, August 25 – Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools begin.

Monday, August 25 –Yoga: Join us Monday at 5:45 p.m. for a wonderful hour-

long Yoga class. Each class is led by Certified Yoga Instructor, Susan Bennett.

The cost is only $4 per class!!

Monday, August 25 – Staff-Parish Relations Committee Meeting will meet

tomorrow evening, Wednesday evening, and on Tuesday evening, September 9.

Each meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. (NH)

Tuesday, August 26 – Tuesday Morning Prayer Group: 8:00 a.m. (NH).

Tuesday, August 26 – S.O.A.R. Birthday Lunch at 11:30 a.m. in the

fellowship hall. Sign up to bring your favorite dish. Tom and Sue Bridges are

Nominations: With this year’s Charge Conference set for Sunday, October 19 at

3:00 p.m., we have much preparation work to do in finding church leaders for

2015. As a result, the Nominations and Leadership Development Committee

will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the dates of August 28, September 4, 18, and 25.

If you are interested in possible serving in a certain area or are no longer

interested in continuing to serve in a certain area during 2015, please let a

committee member know before our first meeting. Members are: David Rorie,

Chairperson; Larry Redfearn; Kevin Siler; Bill Stafford; Kim Idol; Anitta Yates;

Tricia Shupe; Kim Hutton; Courtney Mello; Debbie Siler; and Tom Bridges,

Lay Leader.

Monday, September 1 -, Labor Day Holiday: Offices are closed.

Tuesday, September 2: The Laity Service Award is promoted by the Yadkin

Valley Laity Council as a means of recognizing lay persons whose work in the

local church and community exemplify lives of Christian stewardship. Persons

selected will be recognized by the District at a function late September.

Nominations may be submitted by Sunday School classes, UMM and UMW

until September 2, 2014. If you have any questions please see Tom Bridges, Lay

Leader.

2015 Budget Preparation: All budget requests for 2015 from all Work Area

Committees are due to the Finance Committee by Sunday, September 7. Please

give your requests in writing to Fred Thompson, Chairperson; David Rorie; or

leave them in the plastic collection tray outside the office door.

Monday, September 8 – Newsletter Articles for October are due.

Monday, September 8 – Chrismon Classes start up again at 6:30 p.m. in the

Child Care room. In October, the classes will be held on the first Monday

evening of each month. If you are interested in joining the fun, see Carolyn

Chandler (769-9352) for details.

September 17: Oasis Meals begin and will continue for 10 Wednesdays with

the last meal on November 19. Check with your class or small group and call the

church office to schedule your turn! What a wonderful opportunity to work

together with your class members and friends, to gather in an informal setting to

chat with and meet others, and to join in a bible study – adults, youth, and

children!

Sunday, September 21 – National Back to Church Sunday is a movement to

invite everyone in America back to church. We encourage you to invite your

family and friends to come to Bunker Hill on this special Sunday! Potluck

Ardmore UMC in Winston Salem offers a food

pantry and clothing closet to those in need within

our community. They are open on the first and third

Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

The clothing closet is in desperate need of clothing,

please drop clothing donations for all ages in the

box in the hallway marked for Ardmore UMC. If
