What Is “Islamism?”

• Also known as “political Islam”• Islamic revival movement (Wikipedia definition)

– “Characterized by moral conservatism, literalism, and the attempt to implement Islamic values in all spheres of life.”

– Islamism favors the reordering of government and society in accordance with the Shari'a

• Different versions of the Islamist movement have been described as "oscillating between two poles”– At one “jihadist” or “activist” end is a strategy of Islamization of

society through state power seized by revolution or invasion– At the other "reformist" pole Islamists work to Islamize society

insidiously "from the bottom up,’ working within the culture

Islamic Growth in America• Pew Research poll states 2.6M – 3M Muslims in US

– May be larger number because many immigrants do not disclose religion– Not the fastest growing religion in US, despite many claims of such– 65% of legal immigrants arrive each year from Muslim countries

• Growth of mosques in USA– 1,209 in 2000 growing to 2,106 in 2010 (US Census data) (74%)– Many mosques funded by Saudi Arabian, with strong Wahhabi influence– Most mosques in New York (257), California (247) and Texas (166)

Muslim Brotherhood in America

• For more detail, consult– Center for Security Policy: Short Course on Shari'a and the Musl

im Brotherhood• Establish five phases for the overthrow of America and

the implementation of Shari'a law– Based on Muslim Brotherhood document “Phases of the World

Underground Movement Plan.”• Seek to accomplish seditious goals through insidious

and imperceptible changes, pursued methodically over a long timeframe in fulfillment of a coordinated strategic plan

General Strategic Plan of MB in America• Strategic goal to overthrow US

government and implement Shari'a law

• Core documents found in 2008 as part of discovery in Holy Land terrorist funding trial

• Document found in the home of Ismael Elbarasse, a founder of the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Virginia, during a 2004 search

Explanatory Memorandum of 1991• “Enablement of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective

and a stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims’ causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims’ efforts, presents Islam as a civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic State wherever it is.” (p. 4)

• "...the Movement must plan and struggle to obtain "the keys" and the tools of this process in carry out [sic] this grand mission as a 'Civilization Jihadist' responsibility.” (p. 5)

• “The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process’ with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers…”

• “[W]e must possess a mastery of the art of ‘coalitions’, the art of ‘absorption’ and the principles of ‘cooperation.’” (p. 7)

14

Page 15: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Tactical Objectives - 1

• Expand the Muslim presence by birth rate, immigration, and refusal to assimilate

• Occupy and expand domination of physical spaces;• Ensure the “Muslim Community” knows and follows MB doctrine;• Control the language we use in describing the enemy• Ensure Muslims do not study American doctrine (e.g., instead,

follow Shari'a)• Co-opt key leadership• Force compliance with Shari'a at local levels• Fight all counterterrorism efforts• Subvert religious organizations• Employ lawfare – the offensive use of lawsuits and threats of

lawsuits

15

Page 16: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Understanding Islam: For Such A Time As ThisIslamism In America

Tactical Objectives - 2

• Claim victimization / demanding accommodations• Condemn “slander” against Islam• Subvert the U.S. education system, in particular, infiltrating and

dominating U.S. Middle East studies programs• Demand the right to practice Shari'a in segregated Muslim

enclaves• Demand recognition of Shari'a in non-Muslim spheres• Confront and denounce Western society, laws, and traditions• Demand that Shari'a replace Western law• Note that many of the foregoing techniques entail, in one way or

another, influencing and neutralizing the American government at all levels.

16

Page 17: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Five Phases of Islamic Conquest

• Phase One: Discreet and secret establishment of leadership.• Phase Two: Gradual appearance on the public scene and exercising and

utilizing various public activities (It greatly succeeded in implementing this stage). It also succeeded in achieving a great deal of its important goals, such as infiltrating various sectors of the Government. Gaining religious institutions and embracing senior scholars. Gaining public support and sympathy. Establishing a shadow government (secret) within the Government.

• Phase Three: Escalation phase, prior to conflict and confrontation with the rulers, through utilizing mass media. Currently in progress.

• Phase Four: Open public confrontation with the Government through exercising the political pressure approach. It is aggressively implementing the above-mentioned approach. Training on the use of weapons domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour. It has noticeable activities in this regard.

• Phase Five: Seize power to establish their Islamic Nation under which all parties and Islamic groups are united.”

Protected Zones and Shari'a in America• Sanctuary cities promote the

establishment of protected zones and terror enclaves

• “These neighborhoods become ‘cultural islands’ that eschew the cultures and values of the cities and countries in which they grow — a virtual malignancy that ultimately comes to threaten its host city and country because within this cocoon radical Islamists are shielded from law enforcement, find shelter and support and an ample supply of potential terror recruits.”– https://counterjihadreport.com/tag/no-go-

zones/

19

There are no “protected zones” for Muslims within the USA. However, as local Muslim populations grow, the larger enclaves will seek self-determination under Shari'a law

Page 20: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Growth of “No Go Zones” In Europe

• Soeren Kern, senior fellow of the Gatestone Institute– “Islamic extremists are stepping up the creation of ‘no-go’ areas

in European cities.” “Many of the ‘no-go’ zones function as microstates governed by Islamic Sharia law,” he wrote. “Host-country authorities effectively have lost control in these areas and in many instances are unable to provide even basic public aid such as police, fire fighting and ambulance services.”

• Governor Bobby Jindal– “In the West, non-assimilationist Muslims establish enclaves and

carry out as much of Shari'a law as they can without regard for the laws of the democratic countries which provided them a new home.”

Embedded Terror Camps in USA

• Muslims of America (MOA)– Classically structured terrorist cells located in multiple (22+) rural

locations around the nation. Investigated by FBI in 2007– Founded by El Sheikh Gilani. Prior to MOA, he founded Jamaat al-

Fuqra, a Pakistani terror organization. – See:

– MOA “possesses an infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns overseas and within the U.S.” and “extols membership to pursue a policy of jihad or holy war against individuals or groups it considers enemies of Islam, which includes the U.S. Government.” (Declassified FBI report on MOA Compound located in Sweeny, TX, 2007)

What Is Next For America? - 1

• Liberal immigration for Islamic refugees and students– Syrian refugee crisis and administration response

• Population growth in most popular settling locations, leading to neighborhood “havens”– Dearborn, MI and Minneapolis, MN responses

• Increase in Muslim participation in local, state, and national offices, non-profits, and civic groups– CAIR, ISNA, ICNA all pushing for roles in public office

• Increase in calls for Muslim-friendly laws, hygiene requirements, labor rulings and school holidays– Jersey City, NJ “We will soon be the majority!”

25

Page 26: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Understanding Islam: For Such A Time As ThisIslamism In America

What’s Next For America? - 2

• Increase in rulings by Muslim jurists who push for Shari’a-friendly rulings on Islamic cases (Muslim Jurists of America – MJA)– 146 cases in 32 states sought to apply Shari’a instead of local law– http://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/2015/01/05/shariah-in-american-courts-the-ex

panding-incursion-of-islamic-law-in-the-u-s-legal-system/

• Significant increase in terror attacks on US soil, followed by (1) immediate response by CAIR and other MB-voices, (2) eventual reprisals against Muslims by citizens– San Bernardino, Chattanooga, and Trump response

• Reprisals against Muslims for attacks enables CAIR and other MB voices to scream “hate speech” and “discrimination,” drawing Muslims to MB-aligned groups

26

Page 27: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Understanding Islam: For Such A Time As ThisIslamism In America

What’s Next For America? - 3

• Fearing reprisals, Muslims congregate more tightly – Significant growth of Muslim neighborhoods, leading to

emergence of US Islamic “no go” zones– Outbreaks of crime and riots by unemployed angry Muslims– Cries for more Shari’a governance in “protected zones”

• Responding to Islamic threats, and apologizing for the treatment of Muslims, government allows limited Shari’a– National ”capitulation” through apology, rather than a demand for

personal accountability• Supreme Court overturns polygamy laws

– No logical obstruction now that gay marriage is legalized– Muslims celebrate polygamy as first Shari’a ”chink” in US law

27

Page 28: Week 13 - Islamism in America

Next Week• Christ at work #1

– Evangelism among Muslims

– Muslim dreams and visions

• God is at work… even when we cannot see Him, or when we cannot reach others for Christ

• Pray!
