Welcome back Welcome back to the warm, dry spring weather. We hope you all enjoyed the two week break. Most students returned in their summer uniforms. Please remember black shoes are still our school uniform from the Monday to Thursday and joggers are only on Friday. A special welcome to Chelsea Savage, a practicum student from Charles Sturt University. Chelsea will be with us for four weeks and will be working with Mrs Beaumont and Year One. World of Maths Today all students participated in the World of Maths roadshow. This hands-on workshop engaged students in problem solving skills that made numeracy fun and applied maths to real life situations. Science news There will be no Science this week as Mrs Levett is on leave. Mrs Steward will have each class for one session on Thursday. Fete news Thankyou to all of our stall captains and organisers who attended our fete meeting last night. The countdown is now only 10 days to go. Please bring in items for our pre-loved stall anytime this week. (toys, kitchen and household items, books, linen, etc.) Please make sure all items are clean and in good condition for resale. It is also time to get those pesca jars in. They can be filled with new toys, hair ties, lollies, small games, chalk, pencils - whatever you think would be fun for a child to win with their lucky number. Make sure you invite family and friends to come along to our fete on Friday 26th. We need lots of people to make it a huge success. External Validation On Tuesday 23rd October, all teaching staff at NEIS will be participating in the External Validation panel session. Classes on this day will be taught by Jo Steward - kindergarten, Toni Campbell - year one and Gina Haines - year two. The External Validation panel session allows teachers the opportunity to discuss how well our school is meeting the needs of our students through quality teaching and utilization of resources and ways in which we could do it better in the future. School photos Our 2018 school photos will be taken on Wednesday 24th October. All students need to have their envelope with them on the day or you can send them in to school whenever you wish before the event. All students need to wear correct summer uniform, white socks for girls, grey sock for boys and black shoes for everyone. Hair ties or ribbons for girls need to be green. Welcome back and I hope everyone has a great term 4 Karen Babbs Principal

Operation Christmas Child

Over the next two weeks our school will be collecting items to support our chosen charity for the term - Operation Christmas Child. Millions of children around the world struggle daily with war, poverty, famine and disease. By donating simple gifts to fill shoe boxes we can help to bring joy and hope to children in need.

We are inviting students to bring suitable unused items to school and place them in the container near the office window. Below is a selection of gift ideas. Books, pencils, chalk, soap, small toys (no war toys), balls, small teddies, clothing, drink bottles, hand towels, face washers, etc..

We understand that it is a very busy time of year with the fete coming up but this is a wonderful charity and we hope that each student in our school can at least bring in one item to brighten the lives of children far less fortunate than us. Kind regards Rose Davis
