Week commencing 11/05/2020
Hey Everyone!I’m sure many of you will be frustrated and upset at not having the opportunity to showcase your fantastic learning during what should have been your SATs week, but fear not, we have plenty
of activities to keep you busy!
From this week you will have a different workbook each day, so make sure you complete all five for this week.
In maths you will be finishing multiplying fractions and then moving onto dividing. Remember the key rule: Keep your first
fraction, change the division to a multiplication and flip the second fraction.
For example: 3/5 1/2 becomes 3/5 x 2/1.
For reading, you have a topical VE Day exercise, followed by mock SATS reading papers. See if you can complete each
day’s in around 20 minutes.

PSHE: Managing my mental health
We will spend this week looking at how you can support your own mental wellbeing.
Today we are going to look at resilience. Below is a definition for resilience. Rewrite it in your own words, and give an example of a situation where you have shown
resilience.
Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. A Resilient person can adapt to tough situations and stressful times.
My definition:
An example of when I have been resilient:
Read through the two situations below. Choose one situation, and write to the person giving them advice on how they can show resilience despite any difficulties
they are having. This does not have to be a formal letter, but you should use full sentences and try to use accurate spelling and grammar.
1) Abdul has been chosen to play in the tennis county championships. He has never competed at such a high level before. He has just lost his 5th game in a
row, and is close to tears. His next game is at 8am tomorrow morning.
2) Rameesha has been waiting to hear if she has been accepted into a prestigious drama school. She gets a letter in the post saying that her application has been rejected, but someone elses name is on the letter. Her mum says she
should contact the school because clearly there’s been a mix up, but Rameesha says there’s no point and she should have known she would have
been rejected in the first place.
