St. Anthony's (Graduates Win Top Honors The commencement ex­

ercises of St. Anthony of Padua Parochial School took place in the auditorium of the school on Leonard street, on June 20. The Rev. Thomas A. Sheerin, pastor, presided.

Carol Anne Tresca gave the salutatory. Presentation of diplomas and awarding of graduation honors were made by the Rev. Thomas A. Sheerin pastor. James Pres­ton was the valedictorian of the class.

Congratulations and best wishes were given by Father Sheerin who also celebrated the 9 A.M. mas that morning and gave a splendid talk both at the mass and the graduation exercises. The Blessing of St. Francis was given the graduates.

Ex-ILA CHIEF DEAD Joseph P. Ryan. 79, former

president of the Internation­al Longshoremen's Associa­tion, died yesterday in his home. Ryan, who had been ill for several months, quit as head of the union in 1953 when it was under fire for racketeering influance. Ryan

was elceter president of the union in 1927.
