The design of the modern workplace is coming under increasing pressure to

provide the most energy efficient solutions possible. As lighting accounts for

70% of the energy consumption in most offices, it is rightly seen as the area

offering the most scope for savings. Over recent years these energy savings have

had to be balanced with the need to maintain lighting quality, and the

development of LED lighting solutions allows us to meet both of these

challenges. With Life M and Foil LED, we are able to meet the differing needs of

buildings with either suspended or open soffit ceilings, whilst Powerbay can used

in a variety of high ceiling applications. Our linear luminaires meet the needs of

back of house applications and we also have energy saving emergency options

and decorative solutions for signature areas.

life MLife M brings LED technology to the workplace.

The ever improving performance of LED solutions

allows them to be used not only for display and effect

lighting, but now in modular ambient applications as well.

Improving the lit environmentLife M sets new standards in ambient lighting solutions. The soft

glare-free ambience created by Life M will enhance any

application. A unique hexaprism diffuser ensures even illumination

without the brightness traditionally associated with LED solutions.

This leads to improved cylindrical illuminance, resulting in better

modelling and facial recognition.

Quality and Compliance Assured Life M delivers quality and compliance in every area. Single bin

LED sets ensure a consistent 4000K colour temperature, whilst

the uniform diffusion of light delivers surface brightness below

3,000Cd/m² and eliminates drop off in illumination commonlyfound in T5 solutions. This enables Life M to meet the lighting

quality standards laid out in EN12464.

Delivering Energy SavingsPremier T5 recessed office luminaires can deliver 65 luminaire

lumens per circuit watt. Life M, delivering 82 luminaire lumens per

watt, will achieve energy savings of 15%. For lighting applications

requiring IP44 protection, typical T5 diffuser luminaires deliver 45

luminaire lumens per watt. Life M will deliver energy savings of

up to 45%.

The trend towards open soffit construction to minimise

energy usage in heating and ventilation has always posed

problems for lighting design. Foil has been seen as a

leading example of integrated lighting and services in these

buildings for some time now and the introduction of Foil

LED further increases the opportunity for energy saving.

Light DistributionUnlike fluorescent lamps, LEDs are a uni-directional light source and

the challenge faced by lighting designers has been to obtain both up

and downward light from a single source. Foil employs dual layer

LEDs to give not only excellent direct light output, but controllable

upward light to enhance overall room surface illuminance.

powerbay CXPowerbay for Industry

In an industrial application, Powerbay can be utilised in two distinct ways. As a general area

lighting tool, Powerbay is available with a symmetrical distribution pattern and can be used to

replace inefficient discharge solutions or even multi-lamp fluorescent luminaires. In a warehouse

environment Powerbay can be specified with an elliptical lens, allowing extremely efficient

lighting schemes utilising less than a third of the power of the equivalent discharge solution.

Powerbay for Commerce

Powerbay is much more than an industrial lighting tool. With the addition of optional refractors

or floating rings, Powerbay can be used to create dramatic lighting schemes in atria or other

high ceiling applications. These attachments not only add visual interest, but control glare

extremely effectively producing bright, comfortable spaces. The light output of Powerbay is

comparable to multi-lamp fluorescent pendant luminaires but it utilises 25% less power.

Powerbay is a unique lighting tool that enables LED technology to be used in hibay

applications. Powerbay’s highly efficient LED light engine allows mounting heights of

up to 10M and delivers the equivalent light output of up to a 400W discharge lamp.

LED technology has long been used in

outdoor lighting, but ACF DuraLED brings

a new level of lighting quality to this

application. With a light output of over

100 luminaire lumens per circuit watt it is

one of the most efficient luminaires

available today. The high quality LEDs in

ACF ensure colour rendition equivalent to

fluorescent lamps, making it particularly

suitable for applications such as car parks

where good visual recognition is vital. Of

course ACF DuraLED shares all of the

anti-corrosive and vandal resistant

qualities of its fluorescent counterpart and

is sealed to IP65.

The introduction of Stiletto LED means

that LED lighting can be used in any

utility application. Stiletto brings low

energy without compromising lighting

quality. Energy reduction is dramatic with

savings of over 35% compared to the

equivalent T5 fluorescent luminaire.

Comfort is assured as its coextruded

polycarbonate diffuser minimises glare

from all viewing angles.

Florin E3When the decision has been made to

employ a stand-alone emergency lighting

system, Florin E3 offers a wide range of

features. High output LEDs delivering 148

lumens combined with precise lens control

allows Florin to be spaced at intervals of

up to 15m, much greater than traditional

solutions, reducing installed points and

minimising ceiling clutter. Florin also has

only a fraction of the parasitic load

compared to a self-contained fluorescent

emergency luminaire, further reducing the

energy load.

Florin can be specified with EasyTest or

DALI EmPro for central monitoring and

reporting, and can be self-contained or

run from a central battery system.

Designed to add sparkle to any application,

Concert Starline Flex offers LED accent

lighting that can be applied anywhere. The

flexible LED ribbon is self-adhesive and can be

unobtrusively fixed to pelmets, counters and

reception desks. Starline Flex is available with

either fixed output or DALI drivers in two

lengths and two colour temperatures.

Nowhere offers greater opportunity to save lighting energy than

the healthcare environment. With hospitals being a true 24/7

environment, any saving made is magnified and the payback

period reduced. Indeed, the switch from even the most efficient

compact fluorescent downlighter to Mirage LED can produce

savings in as little as 12 months. As well as developing

general area LED solutions, we have designed Nightingale

to meet the specific requirements of ward lighting, as well

as anti-ligature products for demanding environments.

Nightingale offers the same class leading performance as Mirage LED,

and has been specifically developed to meet the exacting needs of

centre ward lighting. The control louvre completely eliminates glare at

the bed head, whilst delivering an elliptical light pattern maximising

spacing along the ward. This further enhances the energy saving

features of the LED light engine.

When Nightingale is employed in conjunction with a bed head

luminaire such as Florence Elite, a complete ward lighting system is

achieved combining patient control and comfort with staff overrides

to pre-set configurations.

Mirage LED offers high performance combined with low

energy in any application. Nowhere is this more apparent

than in healthcare environments, where 24/7 usage results

in payback times of less than 1 year.

An anti-ligature

version of Mirage has

been developed,

allowing the same

outstanding

performance and low

energy to be realised

in high risk areas. A

strong fixing to the ceiling is assured by using the steel

reinforcing pattress, to which Mirage AL is fixed using anti-tamper

screws. The optional glare control insert can be fixed behind the

reinforced polycarbonate cover for used comfort and protection.

be either ceiling or wall mounted for

total flexibility, and is available with a

choice of four different light outputs

quality single bin LEDs used in Horizon’s

light engine offer extremely good colour

rendition and is virtually maintenance-

free, with an expected life of over

50,000 hours.

Because of the compelling payback

offered by Mirage LED, a retrofit kit has

been developed to convert any 240mm

diameter downlighter to Mirage LED. The

combination of pattress insert and

decorative cowling ensures a speedy and

attractive switch to Mirage LED. Average

burning hours in healthcare environments

are over 8,000 hours and with Mirage LED

offering payback in 10,000 hours against

even the most efficient compact

fluorescent alternatives, the decision to

switch to an LED alternative is simple.
