MEN’S SOCCER Cleveland State is back on the road twice this week with, traveling to Duquesne at 7:30 p.m. on Tues-day before then playing at Detroit at 2:00 p.m. on Sat-urday. The Vikings are coming off a week with only one game, a 1-0 loss to Bowling Green in the home opener on Friday night. The Falcons got on the board against CSU with a goal in the 15th minute on a shot off a rebound in the box to put them ahead for good. BradStuverhadfivesavesforCSU.
CSU Opens League Play at Loyola on Friday The women’s soccer team opens Horizon League play on Friday (Sept. 21) with an 8:00 p.m. EST match at Loyola. Two days later, CSU heads to Duquesne for a 1:00 p.m. contest. The Vikings are 3-5 this season after snapping a four-match los-ing streak with a 3-1 win over Longwood on Sunday (Sept. 16). Erin O’Toole, Chloe Fadenholz and Vickie Havas - all freshmen - scored for the Vikings. Havas also added an assist, her team-leading fourth of the season, earning Horizon League Player of the Week honors. For the year, Havas is tied for the Horizon League lead in points (10) and assists (4) and is tied for second in goals (3).

MEN’S TENNIS The Vikings will continue the 2012 fall season this weekend, as they are set to compete in the Purdue Invitational. The Purdue Invite is a three-day event, with action running from Friday (Sept. 21) through Sunday (Sept. 23). ClevelandStatecompetedin itsfirst tournamentof the2012-13seasonlast weekend at the Western Michigan Vredevelt Invitational. Three Vikings brought home honors from the invite; Ali Shabib, Niklas Jonsson and Joe Van-Meter. Shabib and Jonsson were named the doubles champions, following a perfect 3-0 weekend at the No. 1 position. The duo was the only team to go undefeated at the No. 1 doubles spot over the weekend. Shabib also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, along with VanMeter.
WOMEN’S TENNIS The Vikings will continue their fall tournament schedule this weekend, competing at the BGSU Invi-tational. Action at the BGSU Invite will take place on Fri-day (Sept. 21) and Saturday (Sept. 22). Last weekend, CSU competed at the Ball State In-vitational, led by the duo of Ellen Folkers and Mengdi Liu. Folkers and Liu each posted a 2-1 record in singles play, while also teaming up to go 2-2 in doubles action. Alex Bush, Maria Lazaris and Kara Sherwood also posted singles wins over the weekend for the Vikings.
MEN’S GOLF CSU is back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 17-18) at the 54-hole John Piper Invitational hosted by Bowling Green. The Vikings placed ninth of 15 teams at the Mar-shallInvitationalonSept.10-11,includingafinalround287thatwasthefifthlowestoftheday. Andrew Bailey tied for 12th place at 213, shoot-ing rounds of 69-73-71.
VOLLEYBALL CSU begins league play this week as they are set to take their annual trip to Wisconsin. CSU will face Green Bay at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday (Sept. 21) and Milwaukee at 5:00 p.m. EST on Saturday (Sept. 22). The Vikings closed out the non-league portion of its schedule last weekend, playing in the Blue and Gold Classic hosted by West Virginia. The Vikings earned a 3-0 sweep over Murray State and fell to the host Moun-taineersinfivesets.KaraKochandMarieFreasewereeach named to the All-Tournament Team. Koch, who notched 38 kills over the weekend, now ranks fourth all-time on the CSU career kills list with 1,309. Frease combined for 25 kills at the tourna-ment, averaging 3.12 kills per set, and has now tallied double-digitkillsinfivestraightmatches.
WOMEN’S GOLF CSU returns to action at the Chicago State Cougar Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 17-18) The Vikings opened the season at the Bucknell Lady Bison Invitational on Sept. 8-9, placing 10th of 15 teams with rounds of 321-328-330. Freshman Allyson Hackman paced the Vikings, tying for 25th place as she fired rounds of 81-79-79(239). Senior Ariel Sparrow tied for 37th place, carding rounds of 80-85-79 for a 54-hole total of 244.
CROSS COUNTRY Coming off one of their best races in the past cou-ple years, the Vikings will continue the 2012 season on Saturday (Sept. 22) when they compete at the Otterbein Invitational. The women’s collegiate race is set for an 11:00 a.m. start. CSU placed seventh at the Friendship Invitational on Saturday as seven Vikings had personal-best times. Tori Holt posted a lifetime-best time of 19:18 to place 10th overall.

laSt WeekHavas helped the Vikings to a 3-1 win over Longwood in CSU’s lone contest of the week with a goal and an assist in the victory. She assisted on the first goal of the match just nine minutes in, sending a corner kick into the box that was knocked in by Erin O’Toole. Havas added CSU’s third goal of the match with 10 minutes to play to seal the win. For the season, Havas is tied for the Horizon League lead in assists (4) and points (10) and is tied for second with three goals.
