Originally a division of the City of Arlington, the Arlington CVB became its own independent bureau 20 years later in 1992. POSITION SUMMARY Position: Vice President of Sales Reports Directly to: President & CEO SUMMARY OF POSITION The Vice President of Sales func�ons as a strategic business leader of the Sales Department and is responsible for the overall sales efforts and opera�ons of the Sales Team. The principal responsibility of the VP is to administer the produc�on of a sales team to achieve specific annual objec�ves for the sale of hotel mee�ngs and the Arlington Conven�on Center. As a member of the leadership team, assists in developing and implemen�ng strategies that deliver return on investment in conven�on and tourism sales. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES The VP will shape the structure, opera�ons, and programming of Arlington’s sales departments with the ac�ve engagement of the hotel industry and Conven�on Center Management. The VP will develop annual produc�on goals for room night sales, leads and bookings. Effec�vely manage strategic tac�cs to maximize the Sales Budget and the produc�on goals of the Sales Team. The VP will have strong involvement in industry events and speaking engagements to con�nually promote Arlington.

The VP will also be responsible for the following: • Develop appropriate sales strategies along with development and enforcing standard opera�ng procedures

necessary to achieve the overall departmental goals as outlined in the marke�ng plan. • Responsible for teams’ overall produc�on in order to meet ACVB goals. • Facilitate and conduct weekly sales mee�ngs. • Administra�ve management of sales team to include: reviews of direct reports, expense report approval, daily sales

ac�vi�es (reports, call tracking, sites, training, etc.) • Development and implementa�on of sales training and programs to mo�vate sales team and enhance sales team

performance. • Exhibit exper�se of Arlington as a mee�ngs and conven�on des�na�on. • Exhibit exper�se of the Arlington Conven�on Center and its policies in order to provide assistance/guidance to

sales team. • Work within, enforce, and enhance the guidelines of the ACVB Booking Policy. • Customer Development: iden�fy and strategize key clients to pursue for Arlington. • Assist/Aide sales managers in strategizing and closing business for city of Arlington. • Facilitate monthly DOS Mee�ngs with Arlington hotels. • Assist managing Cowboys suite and Rangers �ckets for client entertaining and assign appropriate staff

representa�on. • Work with all ACVB departments on prepara�on of the annual marke�ng plan; Mee�ng Planners Guide, other

collateral and trade adver�sing. • Work with other ACVB departments in order to enhance the client’s overall conven�on experience and achieve

maximum customer sa�sfac�on. • Represent ACVB at industry events and organiza�ons when appropriate. • Work with CEO to establish budget and review procedures to include measurements, forecas�ng, and

accountability for sales team. • Oversee and manage the division budget for CVB as well as divisional budget for the Arlington Tourism Public

Improvement District (TPID). • Serve as liaison with Arlington Conven�on Center leadership. • Act as the staff liaison to the Arlington CVB Board Commitees where appropriate. • Atend regularly scheduled ACVB Board of Directors’ mee�ngs. • Staff liaison with Regional efforts such as Hotel Associa�on of Tarrant County, and Visit DFW. • Work with TPID Board and Commitees to best u�lize funds to achieve op�mal sales and marke�ng results. • Other du�es as determined by the President & CEO

MANAGEMENT CHARACTERISTICS The VP must have a history of demonstrated success in the administra�on of conven�on sales. The role is best filled by a seasoned sales professional demonstra�ng strong leadership skills and a work ethic that builds consensus internally and externally. The VP should also exhibit:

IDEAL BACKGROUND AND REQUIREMENTS

• 10+ years of previous sales leadership experience with a conven�on center, DMO/CVB and/or major hotel company a must.

• In-depth knowledge of how to manage a large account base. • Knowledge of both the customer side and hotel side to align customer needs to hotel and City offerings. • Able to stay on top of current events both within DFW and among industry. • Able to maintain a pulse on latest trends within hotels. • Robust compe�tor knowledge. • Experience working with a customized CRM technology (account management) system such as Simpleview. • Proficiency in using Social Media tools, smartphone and tablet devices and all Microso� Office Tools. • Bachelor’s degree required
