Distribution of Magazines

There are four main ways that magazines are distributed

Sold in Shops- People often and a lot of the time walk into the shop and pick up a magazine off the shelves to get their next issue once they come into stock, even if it isn’t to get a weekly magazine people will go in and look at the shelves in order to find something to read.

Reserved in or Delivered by Shops- People will sometimes reserve a magazine with a shop, paying a little extra to possibly have the shop to deliver their magazine when each issue comes out, making the shop more money and guaranteeing that people will get their weekly issue of their magazines.

Subscription Straight from the Publisher- If the shop isn’t the main place to get a particular magazine people will have the publisher have the magazine delivered straight to their house, paying extra to what the magazine would cost if it would be on shelves through a subscription but this is one of the best ways to have a magazine delivered to your doorstep.

Online- Online magazines often mean you have to go through a pay wall in order to view it and give the publisher money for the work they have done. Not all online magazines do this however and publish a free issue every so often, which may not be up to the professional standard as a magazine on the shelves but it is a magazine people will still read. With Internet connection this is the easiest way to view a magazine instead of having it delivered, as you can view it at any time you want instead of having to wait for a delivery.

These 4 ways are the best and most effective ways to receive and look at magazines, even today all 4 methods are used by the general public to get their copy of a magazine.
