PRODUCTION CYCLE

1.PERFORMANCE OF EXCAVATOR CAN BE

MEASURED FROM THE PRODUCTION CYCLE.

2.IT IS THE TIME THAT AN EXCAVATOR TOOK TO LOAD

THE BUCKET FROM SOURCE,SWING,DUMP,RETURN

BACK AND DIG AGAIN.

3.THEREFORE, FASTER THE OPERATION SPEED, THE

FASTER WILL BE THE ONE COMPLETE CYCLE AND

HENCE PRODUCTION CYCLE WILL INCREASE

HISTORY1.FIRST APPEARED IN LATE 1700’S/EARLY 1800’S

2.IN 1990 HAD A LONG CONVENTIONAL COUNTER

WEIGHT ON REAR END

3.IN 1993,YANMAR LAUNCHED THE WORLD

FIRST ZERO TAIL SWING EXCAVATOR

CRAWLER EXCAVATOR

Crawler excavator runs on two endless tracks

(chain wheel system). These types of excavators

are used in hilly areas where risks of sliding of

machinery are on the verge. Crawler type

excavator has low ground pressure because of

spreading of load on large area. Therefore, it is

also used where soil support is weak.

WHEEL EXCAVATOR

Wheel excavator runs on wheels and are used for excavation and loading of dump trucks and

most of the time it is only used for plain ground operations. Because of wheel, it is not suitable

for hilly areas due to low grip value to the ground.

USES OF EXCAVATORSUsage

Excavators are used in many ways:

Digging of trenches, holes, foundation

Material handling

Brush cutting with hydraulic attachments

Forestry work

forestry mulching

demolition

General grading/landscaping

Mining, especially, but not only open-pit mining

River Dredging

Driving piles, in conjunction with a pile driver

Drilling shafts for footings and rock drilling

1. Bucyrus RH400

Weights almost 889 tonnes

The world’s biggest hydraulic excavator is currently owned by Caterpillar, but was originally launched by Terex, in Germany, in 1997.

HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR FEATURES1.LEAST PRODUCTION CYCLE

2.LESS NOISY

3.SMOOTHNESS AND EASE OF OPERATION

4.HIGH OVERALL EFFICIENCY

5.GREATER ACCURACY AND PRECISION
