Third Sunday Of Easter
Abre mis ojos, Señor, ayúdame a ver. Abre mis oídos, Señor; ayúdame a oír tu voz. Abre mis oídos, Señor, ayúdame a oír.
Hermana Kay

Mass at the Nursing Homes and Terrace
We are grateful for our volunteers who take the Eucharist to our Homebound as well as Catholics at DeMay, Newark Manor, the high rise, and the Terrace. For years, our pastor has said Mass on the 1st Monday of the month at DeMay and the 2nd Monday at Newark Manor. He also used to help with Mass at Wayne County Nursing Home. That Mass, on the third Friday of each month, is now said by Fr. Tedesche from St. Joseph the Worker parish. Now, there has been a significant increase in the number of Catholics at the Terrace. So, beginning in August, Fr. Jeff will say Mass once a month there on the third Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. This means we will NOT have Mass in our chapel then.

Twentieth Sunday In Ordinary Time
Family Ministry
Our faith teaches us that when we gather to celebrate the Eu-charist, Jesus himself is present to us. Through the actions of the Mass, the bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Christ. This is what we mean by the word transubstantiation. Jesus makes himself pre-sent to all who receive the Body and Blood of Christ. If there are children in your family who have already celebrated their First Communion, invite them to share their memories of this special day. If you have family photos from this occasion, bring them out and share them. Adults in the family may also share memories or photos of their First Communion. Then read together today’s Gospel, John 6:51-58. Reflect together on what Jesus means when he calls himself the “living bread.”
Recall that every time we receive the Eucharist, Jesus keeps the promise he made in today’s Gospel. Perhaps family members can share what it means for them to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Together, thank God for this gift of Holy Communion. Pray together the Lord’s Prayer or today’s psalm.
Faith Formation/Youth Ministries will be starting up before you know it. FIRST CLASS WILL BE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH. 2018-2019 registration forms are now being excepted. Forms can be found in the gathering space. Call the parish center for more information, 315-331-6753.
“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the
Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.”
