Piecing Instructions - all seams 1/4”

This is a simple nine-patch quilt, made with sashing betweenthe blocks. The key in making this quilt as cute as it can be isthe placement of the fabric blocks!

For the first block, use THREE (3) Fabric E, 3 Fabric F squaresand 3 Fabric G squares, piece as shown, pressing towards thepink lines:

Using the same nine-patch instructions given on the previouspage, make 12 more blocks in the fabric colors shown below:

Now, it’s time to sew all of your hard work together! There is no secret to completing the quilt ex-cept to start sewing your sashing onto the center blocks and work out from there. It will work best ifyou make sure you press your seams toward the sashing strips.

Sew another Fabric C squareto the end of one of your pink/

yellow strips.

Sew 3 Fabric C squares to theends of 3 of your Fabric D strips.

Now, sew 1 plain Fabric D strip toone side of your block and followthe block around with your pink/

yellow strips.

To piece the sashing onto the final center block, sew a purplestrip to the right side of the block.



Sew the sashing strips to each of the remaining blocks, asshown, pressing towards the strips:

Now, sew your sashed blocks together, with the appropriate unsashed blocks:

Sew the final four blocks together with the sashing strips, asshown, and then put together:

Finally, sew the outer border strips together until they are the appropriate length, and sewthem to your quilt, top and bottom first, then left and right sides:

To piece the back of your quilt, sew a large four-patch block, pressing towards the pinklines:

2) With wrong sides together, fold binding in half lengthwise and press. Pin binding to the frontedge of the quilt and sew in place using a 1/4” seam (see 1 below). When you reach a corner,stop stitching 1/4” from the edge and fold the binding up and away from the quilt (2). Fold thebinding back down and begin stitching again, 1/4” from the folded edge (3).

3) Continue stitching the binding to the quilt until you reach the starting point. Overlap the startingedge of the binding by approximately 1” and cut away the excess binding strip. Tuck the end intothe fold and finish sewing the binding in place.

Binding Your Quilt

Layer strips andstitch diagonally.

Trim excess fabric1/4” above seam.

1) Sew each of the 2 1/2” x width offabric G strips together as shown:

4) Sandwich your quilt front, bat-ting and backing together, rightsides of fabric facing out. Fold thebinding over the raw edges of thequilt so that the folded edge coversthe row of stitching on the back.Using a needle and thread, whip-stitch the binding in place.
