“Growing in God’s Word TOGETHER!”

A 72-year-long study conducted at Harvard tracked what really makes human beings happy. The study’s longtime director, George Vaillant, when asked what has been learned, answered pointedly, “The only thing that really matters in life are your relationships to other people.”

In the last two decades, scientists have discovered that this truth is even wired into our brains. Researcher Daniel Goleman summarizes it this way: “The most fundamental revelation of [the discipline of neurobiology is that] we are wired to connect. Neuroscience has discovered that our brain’s very design makes it sociable, inexorably drawn into an intimate brain-to-brain linkup whenever we engage with another person.” (Adapted from Glen Stanton, The Family Project (Focus on the Family, 2014), pgs. 299-300)

This scientific discovery isn’t really a surprise is it? So many of us have recently identified how modern technology, pay at the pump, Internet shopping, and even self-check at the register has left us feeling more and more isolated than ever before. It is amazing how often we can be surrounded by groups of people and yet feel all alone. Sometimes that can even happen in marriage, families, and in our own churches. Worst of all, it can happen to us in our spiritual life with God. Of course that is the most important relationship for any human being. That relationship can only happen through God’s Son, Jesus Christ and through the work of His Holy Spirit. Right there are three relationships all in one!

That is why I want to encourage you to join with us in our upcoming Grow Group Campaign and series entitled, “I am Trinity Klein.” It is all about relationships and connecting with one another in a safe, friendly, and a non-threatening way. This all happens in the midst of God’s people and God’s Word in a Grow Group. Each Sunday the sermon series will connect to the topic of the Grow Group session that week. Get connected and sign up for a Grow Group! It will do your brain and your heart good!

Join us on this six-week journey as we take that next step of discipleship and dive deeper into

God’s Word. Grow Groups are designed to unify the church around a single study connected to the ‘I Am Trinity Klein’ series. Over six weeks,

together as a church, we will hear from our pastors through sermons and then during group times we will explore what Scripture has to say

as we dive deeper into the topic.

Sign up Online at Trinityklein.org or on Sunday at our registration tables on Main Street.

The “Together” sermon series begins August 2. We’ll be spending time

exploring Acts 2:42 and what it means for us to be together as the body of

Serve and Love God

(from Keri Henson’s Caring Bridge Blog) Tonight [day before Baby G’s surgery] we had our pastor from Trinity come over to pray for G. Pastor Stavig has been seeing us through this journey from day one. We also invited our Core Team members over for pizza and prayer. Our Core Team is made up of God Parents, Aunts, and Uncles that live in Houston. Gordon and I do not know what we would do with out these amazing people. They are faithful to the very core of their being and each one loves G with all their hearts. We gathered around as Pastor Stavig read scripture, anointed G with oil and then prayed. We were all able to lay our hands on G as we asked the Heavenly Father to guide the doctors tomorrow and keep G safe. It was truly a moving and calming experience. G was loving all the attention too!

Go & Share GodTrinity Ablaze in Kenyaby Steve Karner

As a six-year-old, my father took me fishing. Dad baited my hook and cast my line. When a fish would bite, he helped me set the hook and reel in the catch. Because of my novicehood, Dad did most of—if not all of—the actual fishing to help guide me through the process.

Christ calls us to be fishers of men (Matthew 4:19) and to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). Christ doesn’t call us to catch fish. He calls us to go fish. Our Heavenly Father watches over the process. The Holy Spirit provides the hook, line, sinker, and the catch.

The team sent to Isinya, Kenya didn’t come back with miraculous catches, stories of on-the-spot conversions, or anyone verbally accepting Christ. The Holy Spirit was active, though, using many fishermen and fisherwomen to share what God has done through His Son Jesus Christ. This message was cast to everyone, including the unchurched, Muslims, and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

It would be nice to see how, when, and if some of those fish get caught, but that may not be for us to know. Most of the fish were willing to keep the conversation going. Some may run with the line a little longer, others may still be tentative to take a nibble. What we do know: God doesn’t need us in Kenya, but He will use us, here and abroad, for His purposes (Isaiah 55:11). Each cast is a chance for the Holy Spirit to chip away at walls surrounding guarded hearts.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s go fishing!

Blessings in a Backpack Ministry is growing and needs your help! Our Mission is to help provide

Klein ISD school children who are on Federal free and reduced meal programs with a backpack of food to take home for the weekends during the school year. Studies have shown that good nutrition helps the school children improve their school attendance and have better health. We

currently partner with two Klein ISD schools and are looking into adding more schools to our ministry. In

order to do so, we need more volunteers. There are several ways you can serve with this team.

Please contact Jennifer Kiel [email protected] for more information.

New Space for Benevolent Ministry

If you having been by what used to be the Resource Center, then you might be surprised to find out it is now home to the Benevolent Ministry! Kim Sly, Jennifer Kiel and other staff members have worked hard to create a warm and inviting space for the families and people we help in the church and in our community. There is a large space for the food pantry, as well as a more private meeting area. They have done a wonderful job transforming thisspace. If you haven’t been by to see it yet, feel free to pop in and say hi! A list of needed items is included on the next page.

TRINITY’S LARGE PRINT WORK CENTER #93 DELIVERS!!

On June 19 several volunteers from Trinity’s Large Print Work Center #93 were privileged to deliver a Large Print New Testament to Susie Davis who lives in the Spring area. Pictured are (left to right) Rosemary Williams, Jean Webber, Susie, Hilda Doerre, and James Wunderlich. We were greeted warmly by Susie at her home along with her pastor, Bishop Willie A. Jenkins, his wife, and several of her friends. Susie was thrilled to receive her New Testament and had already received several volumes of the Large Print Old Testament from other work centers. Pastor Jenkins prayed with the group and Susie’s friends served refreshments.

This opportunity to deliver a New Testament to a “real person” rather than just printing, binding, boxing and putting it in the mail helped us realize that our work has a huge impact on those receiving it. As one of the mission programs at Trinity we are bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to many around the world. Even more exciting we were able to deliver it to someone very close to home who otherwise would not be able to read a Bible!

For more information about the Large Print program or to receive a Large Print New Testament please call Jean Webber, 281-923-6486.

“Should there be a line that determines when humans have value? Some say it’s at viability, others say when there’s a

heartbeat, and others say at birth. Some even argue that the ability to reason should be the dividing line, which would making killing infants ok, too. These lines we draw are so arbitrary, meaningless. My seven-year-old sister gets that.

Human beings are valuable because we are human beings. And it’s as plain and simple

as that.” - Micaiah Bilger, education director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life
