Adopt a Small Group with INTERVARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP at FIT: InterVarsity has 16 small groups meeting at FIT. They are looking for members of local churches who would like to “adopt” a group. You would provide snacks for their Bible study twice a semester, get to know the

Carey O’Neil Is Planning to Go on a Mission Trip to Ireland, May 30 - June 9, sponsored by The Springs Church in Jacksonville. Carey writes, “The mission is for Teen Challenge, helping teenagers cope with drug and alcohol abuse issues; something I know about from personal experience and would like to share with them how my faith helped me. There is also construction work to be done and I know that with my experience I would be able to help. I would appreciate any and all financial assistance and prayers.” Carey needs to raise $1,650. Contributions may be sent to the church with “Carey O’Neil mission trip” in the memo line.

May 13/14, 2017: Spring Ingathering for UNITED THANK OFFERING“Your Blessings Become Blessings for Others”United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through UTO, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. You are never too young or too old to count your blessings and start a daily spiritual practice. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. UTO is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and in Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world. Give THANKS for the good things that happen every day – for the little things like a good parking spot on a busy day, sunshine for your family picnic, or a birthday card from a friend. Give THANKS for the big things like recovery from serious illness, a new job, or forgiveness and reconciliation after a long dispute. It’s suggested that every time you think of something you’re thankful for, you say a thankful prayer and drop pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, or dollars in your BLUE BOX. These Blue Boxes are available in the Narthex to help you gather your contributions, but it’s suggested that you turn those coins into paper money or a check and place the donation in a UTO envelope (or a plain envelope, clearly marked “for UTO”) for the actual ingathering. This way, you can use your Blue Box for many years – and many thankful prayers. Checks may be made payable to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with a notation that the check is for “UTO” or “United Thank Offering.” If you have any questions, feel free to call Judy Henderson at 321-327-3175. Through daily prayer and tangible offerings, LIVES ARE CHANGED IN VERY REAL WAYS.

All of us sometimes feel lonely and unconnected with other people and with God. It’s as if we are adrift on the sea of life and we just can’t find our way home. We feel unsettled while deep within us we want to feel at peace. In a figurative sense we want to come home to a place where we can rest easy and feel secure.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about this experience of trying to get home. It is all about settling down in a place where we can rest easy and feel secure. This usually means a movement of the spirit, rather than a change in geography. It’s about a change in attitude -- a change in the way we look at and experience the world around us. Christianity is about settling in and making God our home.

An old preacher I once knew said that Jesus took three approaches to bringing people home to God. The first approach Jesus makes in the Gospel books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is to try to build his disciples up; he says to them, “You are children of God.” Jesus says -- “Listen - you are loved by God -- and you can lead yourselves out of the hopeless mess you find yourselves in.” The disciples are so hard-headed that they just don’t get it. When Jesus called them to love and forgive each other -- they just didn’t do too well. “The Kingdom of Heaven is here,” Jesus was always saying, but those disciples (and many of us who follow Jesus) just can’t seem to find the blessing.

The second approach Jesus made was like this. Jesus said, “Well if you can’t or won’t turn away from the emptiness and pointlessness in your lives -- if you can’t do it yourselves then just follow me -- and then you will find fullness in your lives.” Jesus summed up this “way home” in these words, “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also.” (John 12:26) But still the people did not get it. They preferred to live in the Hell of fear and worry than in the Heaven of hope and peace, which Jesus proclaimed.

The third approach of Jesus to the lost people was terribly hard. It was hard, because it meant that all the good options were gone. Jesus could not educate the people to live a good life -- that was option 1. And he could not inspire the people to follow him to a good life -- that was option 2. The only option left was for Jesus to die for the people.

The Scripture says Jesus’ heart was troubled. (John 12:27) Jesus was sad. Usually, people say that in this Scripture -- Jesus was sad because he realized he would have to die. But you know I think he was sad -- I think his heart was troubled -- because he wanted the people to embrace his hope -- his vision of loving God, and loving other people, and reaching out to a world in pain.But the people did not get the message and so Jesus was lifted up from the earth. He was crucified to draw all people to himself. The people refused to come home to God. They could not follow the directions, and they refused to follow the lead of Jesus. So God in Christ pulled them in through the death and resurrection of Jesus. God pulls us -- all of us -- in through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

This third option goes beyond educated Christianity or blind following -- neither of which we do well. The third option is to reach for the life-line which Jesus has offered to us through the cross of Calvary. This option is freely given -- all we have to do is reach out to God in a way that says, “God I need you. I cannot find my way home without you.” The gift of God’s sacrificial love has already done the rest. God will pull us in to a full life of hope, and love of God, and love of neighbor. And by God’s grace we will even be able to reach out to others. There is incredible joy in all of this, even if you stand in the dark shadow of a cross. The joy comes from knowing that you are on your way home.

Christ makes all the difference for us. Palm Sunday, with the story of the Crucifixion is coming on April 9. Holy Week will follow. These are times for ALL of us to turn back to God again and accept that Jesus has saved us by his death and resurrection. Because of Jesus – we can ALL find our way home to God. And there is no better place to be, than at home with someone who loves you. May you all know this joy!

CHURCH GARDENING DAY & EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT:

Saturday, April 29 at 8:30am!Come join us on Saturday April 29 for a church gardening day. Nathan Seybold will be leading his eagle project that day. You can join him and the scouts as they refresh the flower beds outside of the memorial garden on the west side, along the sidewalk, or help with the other gardening tasks that will be underway. Nathan will be providing a light breakfast along with water during the morning for everyone. If the work lasts until lunch time, he will also provide pizza and soda. We will meet in Lewis Hall at 8:00am on Saturday April 29 for breakfast and start working around 8:30am. Nathan is requesting donations towards the project and will be making an announcement, answering any questions and collecting donations after each service the weekend of April 8-9. Come join us for a morning of fresh air and fellowship as we freshen up our landscaping and support the scouts.

Can you spare 30 minutes? An hour? If you have any time to give, to help transform the gym into an Easter worship space, your help would be greatly appreciated! We will meet to decorate the gym at 10:00am. This is actually a great opportunity to fellowship as we prepare for Easter! There will be food and students can receive service hours for their time.

After the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning we will need to breakdown our Easter setup so the gym can be used by the HT Academy on Monday morning. This usually goes very quickly, and as the saying goes, many hands make light work!

Health Ministry News:April 2017 has a special message to all of us. This is the 31st annual Alcohol Awareness Month. Founded and sponsored by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), alcohol awareness month was established in 1987 to help reduce the stigma so often associated with alcoholism. This is a chronic progressive

disease, genetically predisposed and fatal if untreated. However people can and do recover. It is estimated that as many as 20 million people are living lives in recovery. This year’s theme, Connecting the Dots: Opportunities for Recovery, is designed to draw attention to the many opportunities individuals, families and communities have to help prevent teen alcohol use.

An integral part of NCADD awareness month is Alcohol–Free Weekend. The first weekend of April (March 31 - April 2) is to raise public awareness about the use of alcohol and how it may affect our loved ones and the communities in which we live. During this weekend, NCADD is inviting Americans to engage in three alcohol free days (72 hours of no beer, wine, malt liquor, distilled spirits or liquor). Those individuals or families who experience difficulty or discomfort with this experiment are urged to contract our priests, the nurse (Carolyn) or our counseling center for assistance with resources and to look deeper into intervention, treatment and recovery. HELP AND/OR REFERRALS CAN BE PROVIDED CONFIDENTIALLY. Check out the health information on the table in the Narthex and the restrooms.

Healing Teaching will meet on Wednesday, April 5 at 9:15am in the Historic Chapel. They are studying a series of studies authored by Bishop Owen Dowling of the Anglican Church of Australia.

Rev. Pam’s Bible Study will complete the Lenten Bible Study on April 3. They will not meet on April 10 & 17, and will begin a new study on April 24. All are invited to attend! Questions? Just ask Rev. Pam.

St. Margaret’s Guild is planning two spectacular events for April and May! On April 20 we will be going on our 2nd Annual Road Trip. We are driving to Trinity Church in Vero Beach for a tour. Then we will have lunch at Captain Hiram’s! As we will be carpooling, it is important that you sign up if you need a ride or can give a ride. We will be leaving from the Lewis Hall parking lot at 9:00am sharp. Last year’s road trip was a lot of fun and this year’s event should be awesome, too! We are going to try something new for our Annual Spring Luncheon this year. On May 18 we will be having lunch (pay for your own) at Carrabbas on Palm Bay Road at 11:30am. The back dining area has been reserved for us. We are asking for a $5 reservation guarantee which will be returned to you when you arrive. If you are unable to come, then we will donate your $5 to the wait staff on your behalf. Bible Study, Daily Devotion & Healing Prayer led by The Rev. Meghan Farr will be held at Trinity Towers East on the second Tuesday of each month, this month: April 11. Bible Study will begin at 10:30am, and will be followed by Daily Devotion and Healing Prayer at 11:15am.

Coloring the Psalms at TTS! REFLECT • RELAX • REJOICE! Join Rev. Meghan on Wednesday, April 19 at 2:30pm in the Trinity Towers South Dining Room as we color and pray the Psalms. We’ll having coloring, crafts, singing & more. All materials provided.

Hospital Visits: Our Parish Secretaries call Holmes Regional Hospital daily to check for parishioners, but there are times when the Hospital is unable to give them the names due to HIPAA laws. As a result, it is possible that you or your loved one could be in the hospital, and we will not know about it. The best way for our clergy to know if you or a loved one are in the hospital is to call the office and let us know. Also, please note that Wuestoff Hospitals have no system in place to let us know about our parishioners in their care, so it is essential for you to call us directly to let us know if you are there. Thank you!

Newsletter Folders Needed! Our dedicated team of newsletter folders is in need of some extra helping hands. They will meet on Friday, April 28 at 9:00am in Lewis Hall. Breakfast goodies will be served! Questions? Call the office (321-723-5272).
