Making the BasketBlocksRefer to the photo for color placementguidance.

1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrongside of the 3" polka dot squares. Layerthe marked squares right sides togetherwith the 3" black bark squares, and sew1/4" on each side of the drawn line. Cutthe squares apart on the drawn line.Make five matching half-square-triangle(HST) units for each block. Trim theHST units to measure 2 1/2" square.

2. To make the bottom unit for eachbasket, lay out five matching HST units, one matching 2 1/2" polka dot square, six 2 7/8" black bark triangles, and twotaupe linen rectangles as shown. Sewthe pieces together in rows and thensew the rows together. Join a 5" taupelinen triangle to the base of the unit.

3. To complete the basket unit, sew a9" taupe triangle to the top of the unit.Note: Several blocks have stems that needto be appliquéd before sewing this triangleto the base of the basket. Trim the basketunit to measure 10 1/2" x 10 1/2". Makenine units.

4. Sew 8" triangles to all four sides ofeach basket unit as shown in the phototo complete the block. Make nineblocks.

Appliqué5. Following the manufacturer’sinstructions, trace the listed number ofeach pattern onto the paper side of thefusible web. Roughly cut out each shapeabout an 1/8" outside the drawn line.

6. Fuse each shape on the wrong sideof the fabric as indicated in the cuttinglist. Cut out each shape on the drawnline.

7. Referring to the quilt photo, positionand fuse the shapes to the basketblocks. Finish the raw edges of eachshape with a decorative stitch such as asatin or blanket stitch.

8. Sew the blocks together in threerows of three blocks each as shown inthe photo. Then appliqué the wreathblocks and remaining shapes to thequilt top.
