We will rock you!
Congratulations to all our bands who have performed all week! This is a unique music program to our school only. The quality of performances just gets better every year. A big well done to the co-ordinator of this outstanding program – Graeme Galbraith (the walking jukebox).

T20 CRICKET Well done to the Year 6 girls T20 blast cricket team. Awesome effort to make the state final and to play on the MCG. To finish 5
th overall out of the 1400 girls teams that completed in the
state is a massive achievement. The girls had a fantastic day winning two out of their three games, going down by only 2 runs. Huge thanks to all the parents and siblings who came along and supported the girls. Also to David Pope and Popes Buslines for your generous donation with the bus. Once again well done Holly, Lara, Ebony, Milla, Lucy, Jordyn, Jasmine, Abbey, Poppy and Alysa you've all done your school proud.
Congratulations to Mr Dan Walker who has been officially appointed to the Year 7-12 (Engagement & Wellbeing) Assistant Principal position. Dan has been acting in this role for the second half of 2016.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORTS
A student came to me today, excited that he had made some great progress in his woodwork class. He had come with a design and risk assessment, identified some hazards in completing the project and how he could mitigate these. I had never seen this student as engaged in school as he had displayed today and the reasons for this were varied. However, the main reason was passion. The student knows that this is what he is passionate about and is willing to work hard and improve his skills. He showed me his work, discussing his progress. Today he experienced success, displayed motivation and vision. This is what we want all kids to experience, to have a passion ignited and supported. Next Monday and Tuesday we welcome our 2017 Year 7s into the school. This is an exciting time for kids as they transition into the next phase of their lives where the skills learnt in primary school enable them to flourish in the secondary setting. Students participating in the program will be provided with a booklet on the day and I would encourage parents to discuss the day with their kids and what successes and challenges they had. The journey of secondary school is all about improvement, resilience and hard work and we can’t wait to start that journey with them next year. Our Year 10s will start their jump up into Year 11 on the 12
th and
13th
of December. It is an excellent opportunity to be ready for Year 11 and the step up that it requires in work ethic and application to be successful. Finally, it was great to see our kids perform with confidence and for the audience to support them with encouragement in the bands performance programs this week. I’ve been able to listen to the development of singers and bands alike from my office over the last few weeks. The students and teachers who performed again displayed passion and focus. A special mention to Eddie Reid and his band ‘Dan and the Walkers’. A very clever play on words. Thanks to Graeme Galbraith who has worked to support and develop the kids and their musical capacity over the last year. One sign of a great school is its fostering of the arts, music being one of those. I hope you have a great week. Regards, DAN WALKER 7-12 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

PHYSICS FORCES
The Year 8 Science class was fortunate to host veterinarian Tom Westmore from TVG who outlined the physics and forces employed in the equipment and tools vets use on a daily basis. Students were able to observe the forces that were used in simple machines such as stomach pumps, calving chains or pulleys and snares.
