    I. Khi nim

    My tnh, cng gi l my vi tnh hay in ton, l nhng thit b hay h thng dng tnh ton hay kim sot cc hot ng m c th biu din di dng s hay quy lut logic.

    My tnh c lp ghp bi cc thnh phn c th thc hin cc chc nng n gin nh ngha trc. Qu trnh tc ng tng h phc tp ca cc thnh phn ny to cho my tnh mt kh nng x l thng tin. Nu c thit lp chnh xc (thng thng bi cc chng trnh my tnh) my tnh c th m phng li mt s kha cnh ca mt vn hay ca mt h thng. Trong trng hp ny, khi c cung cp mt b d liu thch hp n c th t ng gii quyt vn hay d on trc s thay i ca h thng.

    II. S ra i ca my tnh

Kiu bn tnh c Trung quc cng c pht hin ng thi vi kiu c Babylon khong nm 1.000 trc CN. Kiu Trung Quc v sau ny c chnh li vi 2 hng nt, hng c 2 nt v hng c 5 nt nh ngy nay vn cn c s dng. S pht minh ra bn tnh cho thy nhu cu qun l sn xut-kinh doanh ca con ngi lun lun gn lin vi nhu cu tnh ton s hc.
