As you have likely heard by now, Carl Hess has moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri to assume a new position as Assistant Professor - Information Literacy Librarian at Southeast Missouri State University. I believe I speak for us all that he will be missed greatly! Carl, be sure to visit whenever you are nearby.

Thus, allow me to introduce myself as your new secretary! For those of you I haven’t met, here’s a little background. My husband, Branden, and I have lived in Tiffin for 4 years after I got a job at Heidelberg University and we are originally from Forest, Virginia. I have really enjoyed our time at the Elks and look forward to giving back to the organization.

We have a new member, Lindsay Morgan. Be sure to give her a warm welcome when you see her!

Keep an eye out- dues requests will be coming shortly! If you have or are about to change addresses, please send me the new address at [email protected] or call the lodge.

Sincerely,

Laura Johnson, Secretary

IN MEMORIAM

11 O'clock Toast You have heard the tolling of eleven strokes.

This is to remind you that with Elks, the hour of eleven has a tender significance.

Wherever Elks may roam, whatever their lot in life may be,

when this hour falls upon the dial of night the great heart of Elkdom swells and throbs.

It is the golden hour of recollection, the homecoming of those who wander,

the mystic roll call of those who will come no more. Living or dead, Elks are never forgotten, never forsaken.

Morning and noon may pass them by, the light of day sink heedlessly in the West, but ere the shadows of midnight shall fall, the chimes of memory will be pealing forth

the friendly message :
