MEMBERS ALL!

As most of you know we have been going thru some trying times with the Lodge being closed. We have ap-plied for many different grants, as well as, contacted Grand Lodge for assistance with things. We have been turned down at every corner. With that being said, I have decided to hold a series of 3 different fundraisers to help keep our great lodge open for all the future generations of Elks! I hope that all our great members will find it in their hearts to take part in 1 or as many as 3 of these fundraisers of which 100% of the proceeds will be directly used for the Lodge. They are as follows…………………

MONETARY DONATION

In this letter I have attached an envelope for any member or company wishing to make a personal donation to the Lodge. These funds will be directly used for paying bills and getting things fired back up once this is all over. We have continued to burn thru reserves in our checking account and savings account the last few months with no income. We have done a great job in lowering our bills but we still have the basics to maintain. If anyone needs a donor letter for accounting and tax purposes, I will personally make sure you get one for your donation.

ONLINE AUCTION FUNDRAISER - PLEASE HELP - WE NEED YOUR ITEMS!!

This event will be an ONLINE AUCTION in which members can donate items that they do not use anymore. This is a great way to clean out the house and garage while helping a great organization. I have personally done this type of auction before and it works great. Items that work well are as follows:

Antiques, Coins, Tools, Advertising Items, Collectibles, Toys, Yard Equipment, Old Christmas Stuff, Appliances, Furniture, Crocks, Cast Iron Items, Pocket Knives, Quilts, Jewelry, Records, Guns, ETC!

Really anything you have will help and we will take care of it all. We also have trailers for people with large amounts of items.

Drop Off Times at the Effingham Elks:Friday June 12 from 4-7 Saturday June 13 from 9-12

ELKS GREAT GUN GIVEAWAY

The Elks gun giveaway has always been a huge fundraiser for the Lodge for years. But this fundraiser comes with a huge bill of around $6500 each year. I would like to see if I can find 12 members or groups of members to go together to buy a gun for this upcoming event. This will help eliminate the $6500 bill and bring more profit to this great event. I will have a special board made and hung in the Lodge with the list of guns and donors names (I can also make you anonymous). We will be working to add special nights to catch up past missed gun drawings nights from the last few months. We will resume drawing for the guns once Phase 4 starts. Please contact me at 217-259-3277 if you would like to donate or help in any way!

REOPENING THE LODGE

I think we are almost to the point of reopening. With that in mind we also need to stay safe in doing so. We are going to start by being open a few days a week until everyone gets back to normal. We will be putting table and chairs outside along with proper placement of table and chairs inside. We will take the extra steps to keep the place clean and sanitary. If you feel you need to wear a mask please do so. I want everyone to feel safe while visiting the Lodge. I am also working with J & J Ventures on new games and machines for the Lodge.

FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE

I personally think the Food and Entertainment Committee is one of the hardest working committees at the Lodge. I will always appreciate all the hard work they do. We will be working toward getting the team back together and scheduling new events for this year. I do know that we will hopefully be having Matt Poss perform this year along with many others. Again THANKS to this great committee and their hard work.

QUEEN OF HEARTS

The Queen Of Hearts is one of the Lodges best fundraisers all year long. I will be working on getting things restarted on this great Saturday night event once things normalize at the Lodge. The current pot is almost $9000 and we will hopefully beat the last big jackpot we had that went over $30,000! I will keep everyone informed on when we will restart the drawings.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is one of the most important parts of the Elks. We are trying to get a grasp on what the membership numbers are going to look like this year. I know a lot of people have said they are waiting till the Lodge opens to turn dues in and that is fine as well. Please ask friends, family, co-workers, and others to join this great organization. I will be working on some creative ways to boost membership. My goal is to have a positive gain even against these hard times. I encourage all the members to help me in this challenge to help grow the Lodge.

IN CONCLUSION

There is no doubt that these are trying times for the Lodge. We have continued to pay bills with no income and this effects the bottom line. I am asking all Effingham Elks members to participate in any way to help keep this great Lodge financially secure and strong. If you can donate $10, $20, $100, or even more I will make sure that it is spent wisely to keep the Lodge open and strong. No money will be spent on travel or wasteful items. I have enclosed an envelope for any donation you can afford to give as I will donate as well.

The Annual Elks Golf Outing is being rescheduled to August 29th at 12:00pm. We will be looking for 4 person teams to golf so come on out. If you know of any businesses or person who would like to be a hole sponsor please let Tracy know. I look forward to this fun event and hope to see lots of you there.
