Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 20: Keeping up the traditions of DAV, a new block of the school building of MHAC Nagbani, was inaugurat- ed today with Hawan-Poojan. Mukhya Yajman at Hawan was Principal of the school, Alok Betab. Teachers, other staff and students were also present during the occasion. The newly constructed block comprises of a Reception Hall and a new set of class rooms, which will help in accommodat- ing the increasing students roll in the school. The new block echoed with Mantra Uchharan. On this occa- sion, the students did 'Pushap Varsha', which enthralled every- one. Prasad was distributed to everyone present at the end of the Hawan. Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 20: Chairperson J&K Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), K. Vijaya Rajendra has said that health awareness among the women is a part of health care scheme of JKP in which the doc- tors provide free advice and medicare to the women person- nel and police families to main- tain their health. She was speaking while inaugurating four day long medical camp and awareness programme, organised by IRP-15 Mahila Battalion at Gulshan Ground here this morning. The Chairperson advised the women cops to take bene- fits of the available facilities in the camp and take advan- tage of advanced health advis- es from the doctors to main- tain their health. She said the aim of organizing such camps is to provide better medical care and awareness at their door step. She said that more than 600 women cops and family members have already been registered who would be treated during the camp in Gulshan Ground and Police Housing Colony at Channi Himmat. Earlier, IGP Technical, Services, H. K. Lohia. briefed the Chairperson about the latest facilities available in the camps with regard to modern diagnos- tic equipments procured for the Police Hospital recently by PHQ. He said that under the supervision of different teams of specialized doctors medicare along with different diagnostic facilities and free medicines are provided to the patients. SSP Mahila Battalion, Anita Sharma also addressed the function and threw light on the survey of patients and their registration during last one month and other arrangements for the camps. The Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital Jammu, Dr. Wasiq Rasool apprised the Chairperson about the diagnos- tic facilities available in the camps and the services of spe- cialized doctors for the treat- ment of patients. Chairing a high level meet- ing with the officers of Forest, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries Departments convened to review the functioning of these departments here today, Mir Zahoor asked the concerned officers to take concerted efforts for generating mass awareness among all stakeholders about the Centrally Sponsored Schemes so that maximum people specially youth can avail benefit of the programme and enhance their employability. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, Forests and Ecology and Environment Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Secretary, Animal Sheep Husbandry Department Vinod Koul, Secretary, Co-operative, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Registrar Co- operative, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and other concerned senior offi- cers. JKP training institutions to receive hi-tech equipment: Aggarwal Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 20: In order to strengthen and fully equip the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) and all the Police Training Institutions in the State, Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to modernize all its Training Institutions to meet contemporary professional challenges. This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police Trainings (ADGP), Navin Aggarwal, while chairing a meet- ing of heads of Police Training Institutions at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was convened to review training modules as per the changing policing require- ments in the field and also to modernize delivery mechanism of various training modules. He said during 2016-2017, PHQ would equip all the training insti- tutions across the State by pro- viding high tech equipment under the modernization pro- gramme. He said that our men should be able to get profession- al training in every field of pro- fessional policing at par with other police forces in the country. He asked all heads of institu- tions to come up with long term proposals and requirements of these institutions to bring inno- vative changes in the working. He said responsibilities of police have increased manifold and it has become imperative to upgrade our training infrastruc- ture besides framing the syl- labus to fulfil present require- ments. The meeting discussed pro- posals and issues to be focussed during 2016-2017 with officers puting forth issues with regard to the requirements. Detailed deliberations were held on different aspects of training including physical fit- ness, sports activities, knowl- edge about modern techniques of investigation, better crowd management with minimum use of force by following SOPs and use of weaponry to fight latest challenges in a professional manner. KPC asks Govt to act tough against terrorists, separatists Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 20: Accusing the Centre and State Governments of their total failure in addressing the problems of exiled Pandits from Valley, KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri urged the Government to take tough stand against the ter- rorists responsible for human rights violation of peace loving people including minorities in the State. Mr Kashmiri in a letter to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti said that J&K is the only Muslim majority State in the country and maintaining the secular character of the State is the onus of the Government. He said Pandits are the aborigines of Valley and their mass exodus from their homeland is the failure of Indian Government. Kashmiri expressed the hope that the new Government in the State will work for strengthening the secular values as well as restor- ing their homeland to Pandits by taking effective measures for their one place settlement within Valley. KPC Chief further in his letter to Chief Minister said that even leading International Human Rights Organisations like Amnesty International, Asia Watch and others have yet to take proper cognizance of the genocide perpetrated on Kashmiri Pandits. Their representatives have so far failed to assess the correct situa- tion created by Pakistan and local separatists and other fundamental- ist groups in the valley, who forced KPs to leave their homes and hearths and lead the refugees life outside the Valley. He, while reminding the CM of the pain and agony of the com- munity stressed on taking effective steps in settling the issue once for all by taking the aspirations of the community into consideration. ‘Kalash Yatra’ being taken out in Nowshera town on Wednesday. ‘Kalash Yatra’ taken out Excelsior Correspondent NOWSHERA, Apr 20: Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Nowshera took out an impres- sive `Kalash Yatra' in the town here today. A large number of promi- nent persons of all walks of life attended the yatra starting from Patel Chowk and pass- ing through main Bazar and ancient Raghunath temple. The participants chanted Bhajans amidst beating of drums. The yatra culminated at historical Patel Chowk where `Murti Pujan' was per- formed before installation at the site of the new complex constructed there. Former MLC Ravinder Sharma, president Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jagdish Sawhney, Ex- Chairman Municipal Council Subash Kapoor and several other prominent persons partici- pated in this religious pro- gramme. The PTU leader said that Kullian to Laswara road in RS Pura which covers 15 villages and 4 Panchayats has been in a dilapi- dated condition for last 20 years. "This stretch of road connects RS Pura to Bishnah but the vehic- ular traffic as well as general com- muters are facing grave inconven- ience due to pot holes of five to six meter diameter, which have been posing life threat to the public at large", he said, adding the road needs immediate blacktopping while its sides also needs to be enforced with RBM.
