JAMMU, Apr 20: Keepingup the traditions of DAV, a newblock of the school building ofMHAC Nagbani, was inaugurat-ed today with Hawan-Poojan.
Mukhya Yajman at Hawanwas Principal of the school,Alok Betab. Teachers, otherstaff and students were alsopresent during the occasion.
The newly constructed blockcomprises of a Reception Halland a new set of class rooms,which will help in accommodat-ing the increasing students rollin the school.
The new block echoed withMantra Uchharan. On this occa-sion, the students did 'PushapVarsha', which enthralled every-one. Prasad was distributed toeveryone present at the end ofthe Hawan.

JAMMU, Apr 20:Chairperson J&K Police WivesWelfare Association (PWWA),K. Vijaya Rajendra has said thathealth awareness among thewomen is a part of health carescheme of JKP in which the doc-tors provide free advice andmedicare to the women person-nel and police families to main-tain their health.
She was speaking whileinaugurating four day longmedical camp and awareness
programme, organised byIRP-15 Mahila Battalion atGulshan Ground here thismorning.
The Chairperson advisedthe women cops to take bene-fits of the available facilitiesin the camp and take advan-tage of advanced health advis-es from the doctors to main-tain their health. She said theaim of organizing such campsis to provide better medical
care and awareness at theirdoor step. She said that morethan 600 women cops andfamily members have alreadybeen registered who would betreated during the camp inGulshan Ground and PoliceHousing Colony at ChanniHimmat.
Earlier, IGP Technical,Services, H. K. Lohia. briefedthe Chairperson about the latestfacilities available in the campswith regard to modern diagnos-tic equipments procured for thePolice Hospital recently by
PHQ. He saidthat under thesupervision ofdifferent teamsof specializedd o c t o r smedicare alongwith differentd i a g n o s t i cfacilities andfree medicinesare provided tothe patients.

Mr. Shah directed CEOs toimplement the Tourist Trade Actin letter and spirit in theirrespective resorts and keep strictvigil on tourism related entities/units and ensure that violators ofthe Act are dealt strictly so thatvisiting tourists have a comfort-able and memorable stay inJammu and Kashmir.
He enjoined upon the offi-cers to work in a most transpar-ent manner and ensure punctual-ity in their respective offices toprovide better services to thepeople. He assured all help tomitigate the problems beingfaced by the officers.

Zahoor stresses on using waterlogged areas for fish farming

JAMMU, Apr 20: Ministerof State for Forest, Animal &Sheep Husbandry, Cooperativeand Fisheries Mir ZahoorAhmad today stressed onexploring viability of using var-ious water logged areas for fishfarming and other tourism relat-ed activities.
Chairing a high level meet-ing with the officers of Forest,Animal & Sheep Husbandry,Cooperative and FisheriesDepartments convened toreview the functioning of thesedepartments here today, MirZahoor asked the concernedofficers to take concerted effortsfor generating mass awarenessamong all stakeholders about theCentrally Sponsored Schemes so
that maximum people speciallyyouth can avail benefit of theprogramme and enhance theiremployability.
The meeting was attended bythe Principal Secretary, Forestsand Ecology and EnvironmentRakesh Kumar Gupta, Secretary,Animal Sheep HusbandryDepartment Vinod Koul,Secretary, Co-operative, BaseerAhmad Khan, Registrar Co-operative, Bashir Ahmad Bhatand other concerned senior offi-cers.
The Minister received adetailed resume of activities andachievements from all thesedepartments.
While reviewing fisheriessector, the Minister appreciatedthe progress registered by theDepartment and emphasized on
completing the other new unitsfor generating employmentavenues for the un-employedyouth under the Rashtri KrishiVikas Yojna (RKVY).
In order to give a boost to thelivestock industry in the State,the Minister stressed on sustain-able growth, production of live-stock, poultry and fisheries fornutritional security and econom-ic prosperity of the State. Heunderscored the need for geneticup-gradation of local livestockto strengthen and improve pro-ductivity and ensure a diseasefree livestock product supplychain for the State.
The Minister also took stockof the Co-operative SocietiesRegistered and stressed forstrengthening and revival ofcooperative societies.

JAMMU, Apr 20: In order tostrengthen and fully equip theSher-i-Kashmir Police Academy(SKPA) and all the Police TrainingInstitutions in the State, Jammuand Kashmir Police is going tomodernize all its TrainingInstitutions to meet contemporaryprofessional challenges.
This was disclosed byAdditional Director General ofPolice Trainings (ADGP), NavinAggarwal, while chairing a meet-ing of heads of Police TrainingInstitutions at PoliceHeadquarters (PHQ) here today.The meeting was convened toreview training modules as perthe changing policing require-ments in the field and also tomodernize delivery mechanismof various training modules. Hesaid during 2016-2017, PHQwould equip all the training insti-tutions across the State by pro-viding high tech equipmentunder the modernization pro-gramme. He said that our men
should be able to get profession-al training in every field of pro-fessional policing at par withother police forces in the country.
He asked all heads of institu-tions to come up with long termproposals and requirements ofthese institutions to bring inno-vative changes in the working.He said responsibilities of policehave increased manifold and ithas become imperative toupgrade our training infrastruc-ture besides framing the syl-labus to fulfil present require-ments.
The meeting discussed pro-posals and issues to be focussedduring 2016-2017 with officersputing forth issues with regardto the requirements.
Detailed deliberations wereheld on different aspects oftraining including physical fit-ness, sports activities, knowl-edge about modern techniquesof investigation, better crowdmanagement with minimum useof force by following SOPs anduse of weaponry to fight latest
challenges in a professionalmanner. It was decided that thetraining institutions would bestrengthened on modern linesby providing high tech equip-ments in the shape of armoury,investigation skills, use of ITtechnology and latest communi-cation gadgets.

KPC asks Govt to act tough against terrorists, separatists

JAMMU, Apr 20: Accusingthe Centre and State Governmentsof their total failure in addressingthe problems of exiled Panditsfrom Valley, KPC chief KundanKashmiri urged the Governmentto take tough stand against the ter-rorists responsible for humanrights violation of peace lovingpeople including minorities in theState.
Mr Kashmiri in a letter to ChiefMinister, Mehbooba Mufti said thatJ&K is the only Muslim majorityState in the country and maintainingthe secular character of the State isthe onus of the Government. Hesaid Pandits are the aborigines ofValley and their mass exodus fromtheir homeland is the failure ofIndian Government.
Kashmiri expressed the hopethat the new Government in theState will work for strengthening
the secular values as well as restor-ing their homeland to Pandits bytaking effective measures for theirone place settlement within Valley.
KPC Chief further in his letterto Chief Minister said that evenleading International HumanRights Organisations likeAmnesty International, AsiaWatch and others have yet to takeproper cognizance of the genocideperpetrated on Kashmiri Pandits.Their representatives have so farfailed to assess the correct situa-tion created by Pakistan and localseparatists and other fundamental-ist groups in the valley, who forcedKPs to leave their homes andhearths and lead the refugees lifeoutside the Valley.
He, while reminding the CMof the pain and agony of the com-munity stressed on taking effectivesteps in settling the issue once forall by taking the aspirations of thecommunity into consideration.

NOWSHERA, Apr 20:Sanatan Dharam Sabha,Nowshera took out an impres-sive `Kalash Yatra' in thetown here today.
A large number of promi-nent persons of all walks oflife attended the yatra startingfrom Patel Chowk and pass-ing through main Bazar andancient Raghunath temple.The participants chantedBhajans amidst beating ofdrums. The yatra culminatedat historical Patel Chowkwhere `Murti Pujan' was per-formed before installation atthe site of the new complexconstructed there.
Former MLC RavinderSharma, president SanatanDharam Sabha JagdishSawhney, Ex- ChairmanMunicipal Council SubashKapoor and several otherprominent persons partici-pated in this religious pro-gramme.
While speaking on the

JAMMU, Apr 20: A protestdemonstration was held today atKullian in RS Pura, under the leader-ship of State vice-president, PanthersTrade Union (PTU), Sham Gorka,during which the protesters alsoblocked the main RS Pura-Jammuroad against dilapidated condition ofroads in RS Pura sector.
The PTU leader said thatKullian to Laswara road in RSPura which covers 15 villages and4 Panchayats has been in a dilapi-dated condition for last 20 years.
"This stretch of road connectsRS Pura to Bishnah but the vehic-ular traffic as well as general com-muters are facing grave inconven-ience due to pot holes of five to sixmeter diameter, which have beenposing life threat to the public atlarge", he said, adding the roadneeds immediate blacktoppingwhile its sides also needs to beenforced with RBM.
