The sensing elements for x, y and z have a common centre, thus reliably measuring total field regardless of the probe’s orientation. Compact, yet full-featured Based on the same electronics as Metrolab’s THM1176 family, the TFM1186 shares the features of its siblings. The ultra-compact form factor is equally at home on the bench as in the field. At the same time, a sophisticated command set, easy-to-use LabVIEW API and comprehensive documentation provide access to the complete functionality of this full-featured professional instrument. Sophisticated software: desktop or handheld The USB interface and standards-based communication protocols allow the TFM1186 to function with a Windows or Macintosh computer, or a handheld computer (as shown). The supplied software displays the total field and its x, y, z components, while a "3D Compass" permits direct visualization of the vector direction. FFT, RMS or Peak-to-Peak computations can also be displayed, both numerically and graphically. The user has full control of all measurement parameters, such as sample rate, trigger mode and data averaging. Visual and auditory alarms can be used to signal when measurements are out of bounds. Last but not least, measurements can be recorded to a file, played back in any of the available display modes, or transferred for further analysis using, for example, Excel or Matlab.
