THE SOUND EXCHANGE is a YouthExchange chain project which providesparticipants from different culturalbackgrounds with a voice – a voicethey can use to share the stories theyfind important and interesting.During the project we will explore theexpansive domain of sound and radioand discover how the recorder can beused as a creative tool in expressingand sharing cultural or personal stories.

you will go on two exchanges: One in Copenhagen,Denmark and one in Tbilisi, Georgia. From the 12th- 19th of July we will meet in CPH whereparticipants will be introduced to each other and tothe theme of sound and radio through differentactivities. The week will consist of various listeningexperiences, sound explorations, workshops andvisits, and an introduction to the practical part ofsound and radio making. In the timespan betweenthe first exchange and the second one in October,the participants will be expected to makerecordings in their local area and work on their ownsound pieces. In Georgia these productions, still inthe making, will be presented for everyone in afeedback session, and by the end of the week theywill be finished and compiled in a production called

in Georgia you will go on more sound adventuresand plan the public premier of Sound Stories ofPeople and Places and the distribution of it. Wehope that the project will make way for atransnational radio-collective and create aplatform for sharing sound and radio acrosscountries and cultures. Participants should be between 17 – 30, curiousand open-minded. You should be motivated insharing and telling stories and interested in gainingknowledge about other countries and cultures

AS A PARTICIPANT,

it would be an advantage for you to master acertain level of English, but it is not actually anecessary condition, since the use of sound as analternative media for communication enableparticipants with limited language skills to tell astory through a more abstract languagefor instance, with a sonic landscape of your favoritespot in the countryside or a cityscape containingall kinds of sound sources describing your city.

give young people of different countries andcultures the chance to represent themselves inan international and cross cultural context;

introduce people to stories representing othercultures and individuals from other parts ofEurope;

raise cultural awareness and promote the idea ofgetting the young generation of Europeenganged in international creative communities;

promote the idea of using sound and radio as amedium for cross cultural communication.

1 MINUTE OF SOUNDAs a participant you will be asked to bring apiece of sound to the exchange. This pieceshould reflect something you find important,interesting, touching, funny or maybe evenscary!The piece can be maximum one minute and itcan be everyting from a smart-phonerecording of your cat, a digital clip from yourfavorite radio show or a sound piece youcreate on location with objects of your choice.It could be the sound of brewing coffee, theclicking sound of your favorite high heels oran one minute interview with your father, yourbest friend or even your imaginary friend!These personal sound bits will be part of ashort individual presentation of you.

INTERCULTURAL EVENINGDuring the exchange we will arrange so calledintercultural evenings where every countrygroup need to prepare something introducingones country. For this purpose we ask you tobring some typical food and drinks from yourown region or country, some music, and maybesome clothes or games. Use your imaginationto let the other participants get an impressionof at least some aspects of your region.

ORGANIZATION FAIRPlease be prepared to make a shortpresentation of the organization you comefrom. What kind of organisation is it and whatkind of projects has it been engaged in? Bringcan bring some materials, some photos,reports from former projects etc.

TRAVELYou are expected to arrive in Copenhagen lateston 13th of July, 2015.Upon arrival you will be picked up from theairport, train or bus station by one of ourvolunteers. Moreover, you will be provided withour addresses, phone numbers etc. beforetravelling.Upon your departure, we will provide you withtransportation to the airport, train or bus station.

REIMBURSEMENTDuring the project your accommodation, foodand all the other project-related expenses iscovered by European Commission Erasmus+program.You will be reimbursed your travel costs fromyour home city to Copenhagen and back onthe spot, on the last day of the project.Reimbursement of travel costs will only bedone upon presentation of all original tickets,receipt/invoices and boarding passes.This means that once home after theexchanges, you will be requested to send usthe originals of all return documents andboarding passes.! Note: Please remember to bring the originalinvoice with you – there will be noreimbursement without the original invoice.

REIMBURSEMENTAccording to the rules of Erasmus+ programparticipants of the youth exchange getreimbursement based on the distance betweentheir home town and the project venue.Therefore the maximum limit of reimbursable travelcost to Copenhagen and back home per person is
