“The village itself is lovely,” the owners continue, “with a medieval church (services every week), riverside pub, village green, listed village hall and quiet ford in a no through lane. The welcoming, friendly villagers ensure that you will soon feel at home in South Newington, while the numerous regular community activities include a singing group, art club, yoga, table tennis and youth club, as well as coffee mornings and even circle dancing! Chipping Norton has a wonderful Literary Festival and a theatre that screens live drama as well as its famous Christmas pantomime. The RSC is also not far away in Stratford-upon-Avon. For schooling, meanwhile, Tudor Hall and Bloxham School are in the next village as is the highly rated Warriner School. It’s a safe walk from here to the school bus stop, with no roads for children to cross.”

“At Christmas the house comes into its own – we gather in the dining room to enjoy Christmas dinner cooked in the AGA, leaving the washing up out of sight. After dinner there’s space for all the family – some go for a doze in the snug, there are games in the sitting room and the dining table becomes home to a jigsaw.”

The vegetable plot has produced potatoes, carrots, onions, courgettes, French and runner beans, sweet corn, broccoli and brussels sprouts. We have had lots of success with cucumbers, tomatoes and all varieties of chillies from the greenhouse. As if that was

not enough, we have herbs that last us through the year: oregano, parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.”
