Responsorial Psalm

I Am Wonderfully Made (Ps 138:1-3. 13-15) Richard Cootes

I praise you. I thank you,for I am wonderfully made.I praise you. I thank you.I praise and bless you, Lord, for I am wonderfully made.

1. You search me. You know me.You know my resting. You know my rising. You search me. You know me.All my ways lie open to you.

2. It was you, who made me,knit me together in my mother’s womb.I thank you for my being, for the wonders of all your creation.

3. You knew my soul, you knew my soul, and my body held no secret from you, when I was fashioned, in secret, and moulded in the depths of the earth.

Gospel

The proclamation of the Gospel is accompanied by a dramatic presentation. The Minister proclaims the narrator’s part from the Ambo.

Minister: The Lord be with you. All: And with your Spirit.

Minister: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (5: 17 - 26) All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Minister: One day when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there who had come from every town in Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present for Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralysed man on a bed, and they tried to take him into the house and put him in front of Jesus. Because of the crowd, however, they could find no way to take him in.So they carried him up on the roof, made an opening in the tiles, and let him down on his bed into the middle of the group in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw how much faith they had he said to the man:

Jesus: Your sins are forgiven my friend.

Minister: The Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees began to say to themselves:

Teacher of the Law:

Who is this man who speaks such blasphemy?

2016 WORLD MISSION APPEAL | 11

Page 12: The Introductory Rites - Catholic Mission Missi…  · Web viewWe praise you for daylight and for your word which lights up our minds. ... for the Evangelisation of Peoples (Missal

Pharisee: God is the only one who can forgive sins.

Minister: Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them:

Jesus: Why do you say such things? Is it easier to say “Your sins are forgiven you,” or say “Get up and walk”? I will prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.

Minister: So he said to the paralysed man:

Jesus: I tell you, get up, pick up your bed, and go home.

Minister: At once the man got up in front of them all, took the bed he had been lying on, and went home, praising God.They were all completely amazed!Full of fear they, they praised God:

All: What wonderful things we have seen today

Minister: The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily Please be seated.

The Film of the Cambodia Project is played after which Presider preaches.

Homily notes. In the Gospel story of the paralysed man Jesus tends to the needs of a man who is spiritually and physically broken. There are seven spiritual works of mercy and seven corporal works of mercy. The compassion and mercy of Jesus continues today in Cambodia with the initiatives of the Arrupe Centre, New Humanity and Sr Eulie’s Education Project, the mobile Tuk-Tuk.

At the conclusion of the homily the 8 students who will exchange the symbols move into position:

4 on one side of the sanctuary who will remove the current symbols AND 4 on the other side of the sanctuary who will replace them with the new symbols.

When all are in position the Universal Prayer begins.
