ECB Wet Weather Impact Study

•In September, ECB commissioned TrioPlus to

undertake a study on the impact of the wet weather

on clubs in 2012

•Over 1400 clubs have responded in less than four

weeks indicating the scale of the issue for clubs

•The report reinforces the need to support clubs

collectively to create a sustainable future for clubs

Almost half of the clubs surveyed have been severely affected by the weather this year.

• Up to half of the coaching sessions abandoned

• 41% of clubs reported they have lost players

• ¾ of clubs estimate additional expenditure to be in the region of £1k

• Only 11% of clubs stated that their insurance policies would cover the additional expenditure incurred by the weather

Environmental Impact

• 73% clubs reported wet weather has resulted in poorly prepared pitches

• 28% of clubs reported that this year was the first year they have experienced some flooding

• In 2009 club reported their junior league playing membership had increased by 63 players a 33% increase on 2005 figures
