OUR DESTINATIONS

ROMANIANorth of Bucharest lies Europe’s most extensive unfragmented forest, home to the continent’s largest population of wolves, bears and lynx.

Spend time discovering the wild wonders and rich culture of the region, surrounded by spectacular vistas.

You’ll be able to enjoy a helicopter flight over the Făgăraș Mountains, walks through ancient forests and a stay in remote and cosy wildlife hides deep in the forest.

ITALYTwo hours east of Rome lies the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, the jewel in the crown of Italy’s park system.

Look for wild Marsican brown bears whilst exploring the park’s 500 sq kilometres by vehicle or on foot and spend a night in a comfortable mountain cabin, howling with the wolves.

You may also have the opportunity to meet with Bruno D’Amicis, the leading filmmaker and photographer of the local fauna.

SCOTLANDJust an hour’s drive north of Inverness, Alladale Lodge is ready to welcome you to a very exclusive stay.

The Reserve is a pioneering re-wilding project within the UK, and features ten hill lochs, two rivers and the UK’s most northerly Caledonian pine forest.

Days can be filled with healthy hikes, biking, fly fishing, 4x4 safari, wildlife spotting, photography, picnics, foraging or simply just relaxing.

SPAINThis trip will take you to the wild heart of Spain; the most extensive, unspoilt and intact eco-system in western Europe.

You will spend your time exploring several natural areas including Picos de Europa, Somiedo and Cangas del Narcea.

Early mornings and evenings are spent exploring hidden valleys and traversing remote tracks by 4x4 and on foot, on the lookout for the incredible array of wild flora and fauna.

THE IMPACT

ROMANIAFOUNDATION CONSERVATION CARPATHIAFounded in 2009 by a group of 12 philanthropists and conservationists, FCC aims to stop illegal logging and protect and conserve a significant area of Carpathian forest.

The project purchases land and hunting rights in order to protect all the area’s natural resources and wildlife. FCC’s ultimate intention is to return its landholdings to the public domain for permanent protection in the form of Europe’s largest national park, the Yellowstone of Europe.

ITALYSALVIAMO L’ORSOCreated in 2012, Salviamo l’Orso is striving to grow Marsican brown bear numbers within the Abruzzo National Park.

By expanding the area in which the bears can roam securely and without threat, SLO aim to ensure peaceful coexistence with members of the surrounding villages and towns.

It is down to the projects being carried out by SLO that awareness around the issue of threats to the Marsican brown bear and its habitat is growing.

SCOTLANDHOWLThe HOWL programme was established by Alladale Wilderness Reserve and offers expert-led, courses for school children to improve their understanding about the natural world, ecology and conservation.

ROYAL ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETYAs part of a captive breeding project in partnership with RZSS, a wildcat enclosure was built on Alladale Wilderness Reserve in 2011 to house four wildcats. Since then, four kittens have been born with the ultimate aim of releasing them back into the wild.

SPAINFUNDACIÓN OSO PARDOFundación Oso Pardo was founded in 1992 with the aim of contributing to the study and conservation of the endangered Cantabrian brown bear.

By restoration of high interest habitats, monitoring the bear population, research, fighting against poaching, training and environmental education the organisation help to reduce human-bear conflict.

Since its inception, FOP has recovered bear numbers from just 60 to an astonishing 330.
