For instance, once a sermon series has been completed we are not afforded the luxury of sitting around casually relaxing for a couple of weeks before a new series is launched. Sometimes those new series’ have been in the works for six months to a year. Other times current events or issues and concerns that pop up may have a hand in determining that next series. However you want to slice it, we’re in a new one now. God’s Big Idea Sermon Series This past Sunday we launched a new 4-week series called God’s Big Idea. In this teaching we will see the transformation we are to make according to God’s Word. It should be quite a journey. We’re calling the four teachings: #1 God’s Big Idea: Transformation, #2 God’s Big Escape: Freedom, #3 God’s Big Secret: Trust, #4 God’s Big Plan: Life. Gordon MacDonald, who is the Interim President of Denver Seminary and editor of the Leadership Journal; and Patrick Johnson who founded an organization known as Generous Church, together wrote a devotional book that covered some of these topics. I believe that harvest season is always a good time to count our blessings and to figure out how we can get involved with what God is doing. Because we know that whatever the Lord is doing will be blessed and we want to be aligned with Him. Upon the completion of this one we’ll do a series called the Advent Conspiracy that will help us worship the Lord fully this Christmas. We’ll also be challenged in other significant ways by simplifying our total Christmas experience. It promises to be a sobering but yet a moving and inspiring approach to this year’s Christmas season. Our 50+ group made a positive impression out at Little Galilee Camp this past Wednesday at the annual senior saints’ day! For one thing we had one of the largest groups with ten in our party of the 100 registered for the event. But our group did a great job representing Le Roy Christian Church. One of the LGCA staff members, Bob Philips, was very complimentary of our group. We had a great day out at the camp although the weather wasn’t the best. And don’t forget our Wed. night adult Bible Study on 4-Chair Discipleship. It gives you the chance to assess where you are in the discipleship process and how God wants to use you to disciple others in the chair you’re in right now. This is great material and a clear and concise process of discipleship. Finally, put on your calendar - Nov. 15th as that is the annual Thanksgiving Potluck and one of our best fellowship events of the year! See ya here! God’s Big Idea

As most of you now there’s rarely any down time in the church calendar. For instance, once a sermon series has been

completed we are not afforded the luxury of sitting around casually relaxing for a couple of weeks before a new series is

launched. Sometimes those new series’ have been in the works for six months to a year. Other times current events or

issues and concerns that pop up may have a hand in determining that next series. However you want to slice it, we’re in

a new one now.

God’s Big Idea Sermon Series

This past Sunday we launched a new 4-week series called God’s Big Idea. In this teaching we will see the transformation

we are to make according to God’s Word. It should be quite a journey. We’re calling the four teachings:

#1 God’s Big Idea: Transformation, #2 God’s Big Escape: Freedom, #3 God’s Big Secret: Trust, #4 God’s Big Plan: Life.

Gordon MacDonald, who is the Interim President of Denver Seminary and editor of the Leadership Journal; and Patrick

Johnson who founded an organization known as Generous Church, together wrote a devotional book that covered some

of these topics. I believe that harvest season is always a good time to count our blessings and to figure out how we can

get involved with what God is doing. Because we know that whatever the Lord is doing will be blessed and we want to

be aligned with Him.

Upon the completion of this one we’ll do a series called the Advent Conspiracy that will help us worship the Lord fully

this Christmas. We’ll also be challenged in other significant ways by simplifying our total Christmas experience. It

promises to be a sobering but yet a moving and inspiring approach to this year’s Christmas season.

Our 50+ group made a positive impression out at Little Galilee Camp this past Wednesday at the annual senior saints’

day! For one thing we had one of the largest groups with ten in our party of the 100 registered for the event. But our

group did a great job representing Le Roy Christian Church. One of the LGCA staff members, Bob Philips, was very

complimentary of our group. We had a great day out at the camp although the weather wasn’t the best.

And don’t forget our Wed. night adult Bible Study on 4-Chair Discipleship. It gives you the chance to assess where you

are in the discipleship process and how God wants to use you to disciple others in the chair you’re in right now. This is

great material and a clear and concise process of discipleship.

Finally, put on your calendar - Nov. 15th as that is the annual Thanksgiving Potluck and one of our best fellowship

events of the year! See ya here!

A Cool Breath of Fresh Air!

As I stated last month, the days go by quickly, and gave a bit of a warning that it very well could be

gone before we know it. Well, we’ve fallen back, packed up the Halloween candy (or are still finish-

ing it off every time to head into the kitchen), and if you haven’t already, flip your calendar because

it’s November! Honestly, October was a busy month in my office. We went to Millikin for Room for

Doubt, I went to Colorado and back, a good group showed for the Christian College Fair, some new-

bies went with me to an Orange mini-conference in Indy, hosted a group of moms and kiddos for

MOPS, and the Harvest Party went off well on a drippy day. (cue exhale) It almost felt like summer!

Anyhoo, November looks to be off to a good start. Before we’re completely off Saturday’s sugar

high, Laura and I would like to thank those who helped out creating the Fall Harvest Party. There

were a number of gold-star level of helpers that stayed late to help us put that event to bed, who we’ll

thank personally. But in general, we really appreciate everyone getting behind this and hope that the

example we put forth on Saturday gave folks a good glimpse of us “…Showing…the love of Jesus.”

Upcoming…leaves. Ha! Seriously, though, I’ve got a date with about 3 million leaves in our beauti-

ful trees. Beyond that, we begin looking forward to the holiday season. Make sure to keep an eye

out for our Thanksgiving and Christmas season events and make plans to join us. Bring your neigh-

bors too. As the air turns cool for a few months, our example in our community can and should be a

breath of fresh air to the folks we meet and engage day in and day out.

Upcoming, on November 13th at 7:00 p.m., Eastview Christian Church and Lincoln Christian Uni-

versity host Focus/Bloomington-Normal in Eastview’s Student ministry center. Focus is an experi-

ential worship service held regularly on LCU’s campus. They’re bringing it off campus to unite area

youth and families in a night of fellowship and worship. If you’d like to attend, there’s no need to

rsvp if you decide last minute to go. However, if you’d like a ride, call or e-mail me to let me know.

Folks interested in helping create the float for the Christmas parade, meet me at the Inn on Sunday

Nov. 8th at 4:30 p.m. to discuss ideas and plans for the float. Finally, MOPS will meet a week earlier

this month, on November 19th at 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

See you all soon…
