One of the many things that I love about the LeRoy Christian Church is our people. I get excited when our people introduce me to their family members, visiting guests, neighbors, or work colleagues. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable aspects of ministry. However, sometimes family members come and go or guests are here and, for one reason or another. I don’t get to meet them. Or I may have to decline a meal or a home visit because of hospital calling (which we’ve had a lot of lately—please use our Prayer List to pray for them) or a Church event that doesn’t free me up. Once again, Joey Wilson has come to the rescue. Of course any time you miss a service or want to introduce our teaching to a loved one, you can go to our website: http://leroychristianchurch.org and go to the media section, click on launch media player and then pick out the message you want to catch-up on. BUT, we realize that sometimes you don’t have 25-30 minutes to do that, and as an introduction to a loved one, a 3-5 minute spot might be better. So, for a while, Joey is going to be providing a “snippet” for each preceding Sunday’s teaching and you’ll be able to access them on our Church’s YouTube channel. For our first offering we did the “Joshua-Run to the Battle” (about 5 minutes long). This will give us an opportunity to give people a taste of what we’re doing. It also serves as a quick way to stay in sync with The Story if you have had to miss any of the messages. You may view the Joshua short clip at: http://youtu.be/KQmOaRd-k8g One last thing, since we are wrapping up our Decisions Class, these short videos will also serve to help all of us introduce guests and friends to Jesus in hopes they will make life-transforming decisions. We hope this will be a blessing to you!
Blessings, Jeff
YM UPDATE RIPE for HARVEST
It’s here! This time of year was one that I remember missing when I was at school
in Tennessee, because you know “Corn don’t grow at all on Rocky Top, dirt’s too
rocky by far.” So, as much as I love mountains, the amber waves of grain have a
special place in my heart. While the corn and beans are coming into the bins and
elevators, the candy has been coming in here in preparation for the kids who’ll show
up here on Friday evening. The Harvest Party is annually the biggest one-day out-
reach we do around here. Easter would be close, but we get a lot more unchurched
people in for the Harvest Party. Hairsplitting aside, it’s an important night for us
here because we have a great opportunity to impress those who haven’t given
Church a thought for a while. Jesus told his disciples in John 4 to look up and see
that the fields are ripe (or some translations say “white”) for harvest. Corn doesn’t
harvest itself, but kids travel for candy! We’ll have close to 200 people in our
doors on Friday evening. Yes, some faces will be familiar and some are connected
to Churches other than ours, but many will not. Jesus also told his disciples to “ask
the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field,” (Luke 10:2).
We’re kind of in a similar situation here. We still need a few more “workers” for
this event on Friday. Sure, it’s busy and loud, but it’s about a 3-hour time commit-
ment. And the grain comes to us! Ask any farmer how good of a deal that is! Call
me if you have a few hours to work in the field, errm…fellowship hall on Friday. It’s
fun work, and remember, it’s a party!
We really need some more help in our Jr. and Sr. High groups. These ages are
crucial years in the discipleship process and having more mentors and people to con-
nect with along the way is a must. If you think you could have a conversation with a
teenager about what they are learning and about how the story of the Bible con-
nects with life, then WE need to have a conversation. Please contact me on my cell
or in the office.
We are collecting candy for the Oct. 31 event this week. Bring your candy dona-
tions to the bin in the foyer. We also need people to run our game stations and
food. Lemme know how you want to help out this year!
The Student International Conference on Missions is coming up November 14-16
in Columbus, OH. This is an uplifting and challenging weekend conference with a
worldwide missions emphasis. SICOM is for Jr. and Sr. High students but is held in
conjunction with the regular missionary convention. If you’d like to go, the cost is
$105 and needs to be paid by Oct. 31.
Blessings,
Joe

TRAINING FOR PRESENTATION OPERATORS Formerly Power Point
We are now ready to start training our current and new volunteer operators on our new presentation software, ProPresenter! The first weekend you are scheduled you will sit
with either Lisa (early service) or Joey (late service) as they run the program to give you a good overview of its use and features. If you are comfortable at that point, you can then start operating the machine by yourself at your next-scheduled Worship Service. If you’d prefer another session before you start out by yourself, that’s fine too. Lisa and Joey will
be around at future services to assist you, so please don’t feel overwhelmed. The program is an easy one to run for our Worship Services.
If you have any questions or have not yet volunteered and want to, please contact Joey in the office or by email at [email protected]

The Food Pantry served only three families on Monday, October 13 (we assume some families thought we were closed for Columbus Day). On Monday, October 20 we served
31 families! Thanks you to our helpers! They really came through that night! Thirty-one is a lot to serve in one hour (it did take a little longer than an hour, but not much).
The volunteers are all a great team! The Pantry needs paper towels, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, cake mixes,
and boxed dinners.
