News from the Faith Formation Program: We hope that all of our families had a blessed and joyful Easter Sunday! In our Faith Formation classes we will continue to learn about the abundant graces given to us through the Sacraments in our Catholic faith. We will also be learning about the Divine Mercy Devotion and how to recite the Chaplet given by our Lord Jesus to Saint Faustina in the 1940’s. We hope that you can join us on Sunday, April 8th, at 3:00 p.m. at our church as we pray the Chaplet at the holy hour, and receive the Divine Mercy graces from Jesus to forgive all of our sins. Have a blessed week!

APRIL 2018 CALENDAR of PRO-LIFE EVENTS CITIZENS CONCERNED FOR HUMAN LIFE, INC. PO BOX 13091 ALBANY, NY 12212
Dear Friends of Life: You have probably heard by now that the once very popular toy and baby/youth supply chain store, Toys “R” Us Inc., is in the process of liquidating all 700 of their stores in the United States. In their bankruptcy filing, Toys “R” Us stated that: “Most of our end-customers are newborns and children and, as a result, our revenues are dependent on the birth rates in countries where we operate ... In recent years, many countries' birth rates have dropped or stagnated as their population ages, and education and income levels increase. A continued and significant decline in the number of newborns and children in these countries could have a material adverse effect on our operating results." Until the end of 2010 when they agreed to stop direct donations to Planned Parenthood, Toys “R” Us had been included on the Life Decisions International boycott list which identifies businesses and organizations that donate to abortion groups. Nevertheless, Toys “R” Us continued to support abortion by donating to the Susan G. Komen organization, widely known for their "charitable" gifts to Planned Parenthood. Typically, the group referred to as millennials, accused by Toys “R” Us of not having enough children, is defined as those born between 1981 and 1996. Statistics show that, as a group, millennials marry later than previous generations and increasingly either delay or forgo parenthood. As a result, the birthrate in the United States hit a record low in 2016, bringing the rate among women ages 15 to 44 to 62 births per 1,000 women. And, as The Washington Post observes, the change in the number of children born in the previous 12 years tracks very closely with the Toys “R” Us declining annual revenue. Many economists fear that Toys “R” Us is just the tip of the iceberg and that we will see many more companies closing in the future due to a declining population. The impact that both contraceptive usage and abortion has had on this demographic is real and precipitous. An analysis published on January 18, 2018 by the National Right to Life Committee shows that there have been an estimated 60,069,971 abortions since the Supreme Court handed down its 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision allowing virtually unlimited abortions. While some, like Paul Ehrlich in his fantasy passing as scientific research, The Population Bomb, fear a dramatic growth in the population, many see just the opposite already happening. Chris Weller at The Business Insider reports that many countries have a population, which is falling faster than new births can replace. Coupled with increasing longevity, some economists have been prompted to call this trend a "demographic time bomb"— defined as a place where fertility rates are falling at the same time that longevity is increasing. The Business Insider identifies some of the countries that could become demographic time bombs over the next 20 years: Hong Kong, Singapore, China, South Korea, United States, Spain, and Italy. Perhaps Mr. Ehrlich should have looked at the irrefutable data which the economists used in their analysis of the future before making his unsubstantiated claims. Warning about the "demographic time bomb" for decades already, the Pro-Life community has been often ridiculed as crazy hate mongers for daring to tell people what a future that destroys the family and kills off future generations will be like. The demise of Toys “R” Us proves our point. Killing off future generations guarantees major problems in a society with a declining population. Who will grow the food, maintain the infrastructure, support or create business growth, and so on. Toys “R” Us, through their irresponsible corporate support of abortion on demand, is complicit in the deaths of over 60 million future customers and the ultimate destruction of itself. I believe that unless the United States makes significant changes of both hearts and minds, our economy, too, will go the route of Toys “R” Us. Our only hope is to turn to God in prayer, repent of our sins, follow His will, and work diligently to re-establish the Culture of Life. Sincerely for Life, Mike Schweigert, President, CCHL

May I add that tireless work, unending phone calls, and many many prayers raised up to God decided this outcome.
