Words from your Editor Hi Everyone,
Yes, I have upgraded to an actual
photograph rather than the caricature
we’ve know since Issue 1! I hope you
guys don't mind the change too much.
Quite a lot happened in the past months.
We did Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, we
had Key Club week and we had a bake
sale on the 7th of November for the vic-
tims of hurricane Sandy and we raised
more than $500! Well done to everyone
who donated food or time in the effort to raise this money.
Yours in service, Iris Li
Key Club Pledge
I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation ; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
Introduction
Beach Clean up
In September, we participated in a cleanup of Coney Island beach. There was a huge outcome of volunteers for the event from schools and citizens throughout the borough. We divvied up the beach and go to work. By the end of the day, we cleared a good amount of trash from the beach and collected just about a pound of ciga-rette buds!
Passed Events
Because I wasn’t able to attend this event, I have compiled a list of testimonies from
first hand witnesses below. There is not one day that goes by where I don’t regret missing
the breast cancer walk because of all the good things I’ve heard about. If this was anything
other than a professional publication I would’ve ended the previous sentence with a
frowny face emoticon. Photograph credits goes to Hieu Nguyen.
It was a fun experience to be able to support people with breast cancer! I was able to meet some of
the my friends from other schools. -Cindy Ng
The breast cancer walk was a great event to be involved in ; I walked with my friends but also sup-
ported breast cancer...overall it was fun. -Melissa Coureau
My [breast] cancer walk was really great, met a lot of friendly faces and it was overall an awesome ex-
perience! -Devin Chu
It was fun to walk with strangers around me who wanted to support the same cause. Free provisions at the
end of the walk is awesome. It was nice to see that people still care. -Jon Andre Adlawan

Cleaning Up After the Flood by Anne Li
Hurricane Sandy devastated many neighborhoods, but many volun-teers still stood up to help and clean up on November 3rd, 2012. Stu-dents from John Dewey High School, Midwood High School, Edward R. Murrow High School, Brooklyn Technical High School, and other schools or organizations happily participated in this event. I myself am a big fan of cleanups, so when I heard of this cleanup, I was excited to get to do something for our community after the devastating Hurricane Sandy. I’m proud that I was a part of the team that helped clean up the streets, and I also proud that I helped to prevent major flooding in the Bensonhurst area by cleaning that neighborhood up on October 27th, 2012. In the cleanup on November 3rd, 2012, my team and I cleaned up the streets after the hurricane hit, and I know my group picked more than seven garbage bags worth of leaves and debris. While we were sweeping and shoveling away, a sweet lady yelled down to us from her apartment, thanking us for our work. Elderly passing by my team also thanked us for our hard work.
I’m truly proud of everyone that went to this cleanup, and I am proud that I can say I was there helping out and volunteering. It was so heartwarming to know that what we were doing was for the entire com-munity, and it was so great to know that our work was deeply appreci-ated. To be able to do such work was a privilege, and the experience over-all was invigorating and joyous. It was definitely great to see so much members of our community to work and beautify the streets. It is an ex-perience that I would never hesitate to go to again, and I hope there are many more events that will try to erase the terrible effects of Hurricane Sandy.

The much anticipated Fall Rally took place this month in none other than Edward R. Murrow High School! As ex-plained during prior club meetings, Fall Rally was a mini Lead-ership Training Conference. We had informational workshops for all your Key Club concerns. From those who aspire to join the board next year to those who wanted a better understand-ing of Key Club international, there was something for every-one. Despite how business like Fall Rally sounded it was also very enjoyable. We played ice breakers to start off the work-shops and discussed what we learned over pizza. There was pic-ture taking and memory making left and right and I hope that everyone who attended Fall Rally took with them a pleasant experience.
Fall Rally
The amazing race was one of the most exhausting yet exhilarat-ing things I’ve done in my life. The race took about five hours to complete. We trotted all around the lower Manhattan area and trav-eled from south street sea port to Stuyvesant high school to China-town. The feeling of being lost and confused was consistent but our sense of adventure (and competition) reinvigorated our morale. The first leg of the race was just a scavenger hunt where we had find and take a snapshot of everyday objects like a jungle gym or an animal. In the second part, we had to search for people in various places and have them sign our hands. I’m not sure if they realized how needle-like their pens were but I felt like I was getting a tattoo. The third and final leg of the race was composed of three challenges, a water transporting relay, a word search on a monument and another scav-enger hunt in Chinatown. Although we did not win the overall race, we did manage to complete the monstrosity of a competition which not every team can say they did. I am very proud of everyone that participated!

Leadership Training conference
If you enjoyed Fall Rally, Leadership Training Conference
(or LTC) will be ten times the experience. This year’s LTC will
be from March 22nd to 24th. We will travel upstate to Albany
for the weekend plus Friday to attend a several workshops,
dances and a caucus to elect our next district governor. You will
be staying at the Holiday Inn for the three days we’ll be away and
you get to room with three other members from our club. Last
year’s theme was “Superheroes” and we got to suit up for the
dance. This year’s theme is “under the sea” interpretation is up
to you so let your imagination run wild! (but not THAT wild)
The fee is now at $260 so you should start saving up soon. We
are only taking twenty members to LTC so when the time comes
act fast! If you plan on running for office you MUST attend
LTC because it is chock full of useful information on what your
job will be and how to run a club successfully.
