The Alpine Biome is one of the coldest biomes in the world. The Alpine is cold, snowy and windy. Alpine biomes are found in the mountain regions. The Alpine is 10,000 feet high!

The location of the Alpine biome is in Asia. Below the snow line, there is cold, wind and snow. The Himalayan alpine mountain range is in Asia. Alpine biomes are found in the mountain regions.

The temperature is a numerical measure of hot or cold. In the winter, the temperature is below freezing. In the summer, the temperature range is 10 degrees to 15 degrees F. The precipitation in the alpine is 12 inches ( 30cm) each year.

The alpine biome is also located in South America and Asia. Winter lasts from October to May. Summer is from June to September.

The longitude/latitude of the alpine is 86 degrees east and 27 degrees north. The alpine is a highland climate. The physical features are mountains and snow. The vegetation of the alpine plants is small ground plants. The land is rocky, sandy soil with a cold wind.

In the alpine, there are Yak, Vicuña, Snow Leopards, Mountain Goat, Lama, Chinchilla, Andean Condor, and an Alpaca. Since it is very cold with little oxygen, the animals have two layers of fat; shorter legs, ears, tails and bigger lungs.

SherpasThe Sherpas live in the Himalayas. They help people climb Mount

Everest. They are the world’s highest living population. They have larger lungs and more blood cells to help them breathe. There is not much oxygen in the Himalayas.

People Affect The Alpine

People leave supplies on the mountains which is trash on the mountains. Skiing might be fun but people have to cut down trees to ski. People cut down trees and mine for gold, silver, and copper. That erodes the land and plants. Global warming melts ice and snow which makes animals migrate up the mountain.
