ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to construct and develop a machine that can

produce power to help a household save money by reducing their electrical

consumption.

Wind Powered Generator is a project designed developed by the

researchers, it is a machine used to produce power. It helps us to lessen the

electrical power consumption of a household. The machine can be used to

save money by reducing their dependence from electrical power distributor

like Meralco.

A 30 Watts generator used to provide the power to charge a 6 volts

battery which would supply low power consumption devices. A set of gear

and pinion were used to transmit power throughout the system. The gear set

has a speed ratio of 9. The Lenz turbine rotates about 33rpm for a given wind

speed of 4m/s which turns the generator about 297rpm. The effectiveness of

viii

the machine was determined by its charging time for different wind speed as

long as it falls to the design.
