The Tettenhall Neighbourhood Plan has been given the green light from the voting public of the two Tettenhall Wards of Wightwick and Regis with a staggering 92% Yes vote in favour of the plan from the 15% of residents that could vote at the Referendum yesterday. I am very pleased for the two Wards and Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group as it has been a very long hard process trying to capture the aspirations and vision of this community, but what has been achieved will be a first for Wolverhampton and the future planning process. Voted 2,674 out of 18,320 = 14.6% Yes 2465 No 200 92.5% in favour. A Word From Your MP......................... Earlier this year I pledged my support in the House of Commons for

two key infrastructure projects in Wolverhampton; regeneration of the city centre and the expansion of the Wolverhampton Interchange. I am pleased then that this Government has listened to the needs and people of Wolverhampton and last month pledged some £140m from the Local Growth Fund to support economic growth in the Black Country. The City deal brings in £130m in private investment, creates nearly 6,000 new manufacturing jobs, along with 1,500 apprenticeships in high value manufacturing in the Black Country. I want to outline some of the projects that this government are funding with the Local Enterprise Partnership and what this means for the people of Wolverhampton. The city is already renowned for its cultural and artistic venues and this is why it is great news that £6.2 million will be used to make improvements at both the Civic and Wulfrun Halls and £400,000 will be used for improvements at the Grand Theatre. Building on this foundation funding will be used regenerate the City Centre delivering my ambition to see the development of a cultural calendar to rival any other city in the UK. It was noted in the Chamber last month by the Minister for Cities that I have campaigned for improvements to the Wolverhampton Interchange regularly throughout my time as a Member of Parliament. It has always been my opinion that the completion of the Interchange and the regeneration of the city will have huge benefits and will make a real difference to Wolverhampton, creating jobs and with it investment into the city. I was therefore very pleased that the project will receive £4.5 million which will go towards the construction of a new railway station, refurbishment of the multi storey car park and a new office and retail block.I am specifically very happy about the two projects that I have mentioned and feel that this announcement marks a great day for the city. However, I will, of course, continue to work hard for Wolverhampton South West ensuring that Wolverhampton continues to be the great city it deserves to be.
