graphic research The Cité of the Architecture and the Heritage of the ‘Palais Chaillot’ want to create an educative tool which initiate the public into architecture. It would be moved from one exhibi-tion place to another, it should be flexible in order to adapt to different activities, it should also be a sign which proves the identity of architecture.
The intention is to create an evolutionary tool which answers different needs from the museum. Its creation is as a game of addition: structure, surfaces (the panels of demarcation), the volumes (storing box). The educator can just prepare it before the activity by composing the various elements.

Intention
Cross section of the URBAN DEVELOP-MENT ZONE and its surroundings
Situated in the southeast of the 18th district of Paris next to railways, the Urban De-velopment Zone PA-JOL is a breath within a very dense district. It offers a clear sight eastward where there will be the Morocco Garden.
The 18th district counts a strong density of popula-tion, with 330713 hab / km ² with regard to an ave-rage of 20164 hab / km ² for Paris.
This population is rather young; it groups lots of immi-grated young peo-ple and adults.
The eastern half of the dis-trict is disadvantaged, it has very little cultural place. To fill the huge shortage, many associations are lo-cated in the site Pajol since the 90s.

disposition originelle
Former premises of the SNCF, the site was a place with industrial character. The hall is built in the 1920s. After the economic crisis of the 1970s, this railroad fallow land is more or less in dereliction.
Acquired by the city of Paris, the site is entrusted in SEMA EST. The ob-jective of the city is to value the district, to realize public equipments, to improve the townscape while preserving the monumental hall. The works have already begun and will continue until 2011.
The hall is the central part of the project. The main part will be kept and renewed; the industrial hall will be transformed into a cultural center offering multiple services.
Propose an event during the duration of the works to celebrate the revival of the given up site and also to create a link between the construction site and the public. This event thus participates in the transformation of the hall until its reopening and testifies of it with the local residents.
The event becomes integrated into the festival of the «Nuit blanche», which takes place once a year. It is an exceptional appointment between the hall and the public. These future users discover a new look of the hall every year.

For a long time forgotten, the hall appears in his current state this night from the first ap-pointment. Spans ignite one after another; the silhouettes of the persons appear on the glazing. The public plunges into the memories of the hall and remembers his past. He contempla-tes the event at distance, on stages.

Projectors carrying red filters are hung on a cable tray, fixed to the metallic beams. They are direc-ted to the glazing of the ten spans which will be renewed. A programming of ignition offers different sessions. A group of choreographers is invited to improvise a performance to express what they feel in the hall. Their silhouettes are projected on the glazing. They move according to the program of the lighting.
The public goes on the stages in order to see the whole glazing.
The stages are in wooden strips which leaving a space to let the light comes from within the plat-form as a signal. The intensity of light varies depen-ding on the program of the lighting inside the hall.
The stages are accessible by a slope for the person with limited mobility.

In front of four chosen spans, the wall of the construction site will be drilled up to the ground. These breakthroughs will be covered with transparent plastic panels. The public can return to see the progress of the construction site all year round.
The metallic covering will be replaced by a scaffold to make arrangements on the facade. Normally invisible because of the protective canvas, the hall will show up this night in front of the pu-blic. The dancers carrying each a particular lighting, will open parts of the cover and show a piece of the facade under their lighting. They then will close the cover, move to reveal another part.
The public could walk on the pavement and will discover these various fragments under different lightings. With three projection screens, they can also see images showing the evolution of the construction site.
The woken hall disappears... After the demolition of several spans, it gets ready to be renewed.
On the pedestrian way of the street Pajol, the public will discover, through ope-nings made in the wall of the construction site, proposition images for the future hall. These images collected from the competition are projected on screens made by fabric and hung on the metallic bardage. With these images, the public imagines the future activities of the hall.
The works will be finished on the facade, the cover will be removed by slice, the lighting will be grouped by level and ignite when the cover getting be removed.
The public will discover at first the new glazing, the roofs and finally the whole new facade. Will it be totally different from the current one?
The visitors can enter to the construction site in order to see the whole façade of the hall.
The visit will be showed on the pavement outside of the construction site. Breakthroughs will be all through the wall, the construction site will become more visible from outside.
It will be the last appointment before the re-opening of the site.
The renewed hall will show up by a fantastic lighting, the inner hall will be visible because the facade towards railroads will be opened.
One proposes to get closer and walk through the site’s border, have a closer look at the repaired metallic structure and feel the volumetric of the hall.
