Sat 28 Jul - NZ Film Festival: Tatarakihi - The Children of Parihaka This is the world premiere of a new documentary from award winning producer/director Paora Joseph. Set in the present the film follows a group of schoolchildren from the Taranaki pa on a bus trip they made in 2009 to follow the forced journey of their ancestors, political prisoners from Parihaka, in the 1880s. The film weaves the observations of the children - through artwork, poetry and song - and the footage of their journey with archival photography to bring the history to life. Sat 28 Jul, 3.30 - 5pm, Te Papa’s Soundings Theatre. $13 per ticket. Thur 2nd Aug – Hear from the sustainability trust and Greens@Vic about how to keep your flat warm, learn some knitting skills and how to make a door snake (draught stopper). 2– 4pm, SU217 Fri 3rd Aug – Ideas afternoon Discover and discuss ways to mitigate Victoria’s carbon footprint. 1 – 2.30pm Meeting room2 (Student Union).
