Cultural Programme
The cultural programme is well underway. Students have been to see a NZ Play, NZ movies and ballet already! Thank you to all who have collected tickets, arrived on time and given feedback on the shows.
Fri 24 Aug - Movie Night and Fundraising for the SPCA
I will create a FB event for this next week, but remember to keep this evening free.
We will be holding a cupcake competition on the night! There will be prizes for all bakers who contribute, as well as for the cupcakes judged most creatively decorated and most delicious. We will be asking for a gold coin donation from those wishing to eat and judge!
If you have any movie suggestions, please let me know.
Victoria eventsFri 10 Aug - PYRAMIDER Tesla Coil Demonstration and Lecture
Victoria’s School of Design welcomes you to a demonstration of PYRAMIDER, a giant Tesla coil. Guitarist Jack Hooker from the NZ School of Music will perform with the coil. This demonstration will include not only high voltage audio and visual effects, but also cover some interesting physics and how to make a Tesla coil of your own. Something a little different!
Fri 10 Aug, 5.30pm, Atrium of the VUW School of Architecture and Design, 139 Vivian Street. Free and open to all!
Fri 10 Aug - Lunchtime Concert
“Re-Tuned’ - works for scordatura cello. Scordatura, or alternative tuning of stringed instruments, opens up wonderful new sounds worlds for composers, performers and audiences. It introduces new sonorities, and allows note combinations and sequences that would otherwise be unplayable.
Fri 10 Aug, 12 - 1pm, Adam Concert Room. Free and open to all!

Rain rain go away! This time last year we saw snow, so at least we can say it is a little warmer. This weekend should clear up a little so make the most of our sporadic spring by checking out what’s on around town!
