Excellence, Opportunity and Success
We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Elders past and present of the Wijabul Wiyabal people and other peoples of Bundjalung Nation.
We acknowledge that they are the first peoples of this land on which our school stands.
SRC Pirate Day The SRC ran a very successful fund-raising day last Friday for Pirate Day. It was great
to see so many students dressed up and being pirates for a day. The cake stall was also
very successful with a great amount of cakes, biscuits and slices donated.
We were able to raise over $300 to donate to the Kids Cancer Project.
Well done to the SRC for volunteering their time.

Principal’s Report
Wet Weather
The continuing wet and windy weather has created some areas of flash flooding and damage to trees and buildings in the local area. We ask that you monitor updates and reports from the SES and Lismore Council. As a safety concern, please do not allow children to play in floodwaters. Our school is open as normal. There may be some bus changes or cancellations. These are usually announced over local radio stations each day.
Netball Knockout
Our girls netball team, travelled to Grafton last week for the next round of the NSWPSSA knockout competition. They displayed amazing skills and were victorious. The team will now play in round 4 of the competition. Well done girls. Thank you to the parents for assisting with transport.
Girls Basketball Team
The Girls Basketball team will play their knockout competition games next week. They will play Wyrallah Road and then have a gala day to play other rounds if successful. We wish the girls all the best. Thank you to Mr Davies for coordinating this program.
Stage 2 and 3 Cultural Excursions
As part of our Bundjalung Language program, students in years 3 to 6 will participate in an excursion to Nimbin Rocks and Nimbin cultural centre to learn more about local Aboriginal history and language from local elder, Gilbert Laurie. There will be no cost for these excursions. These excursions were scheduled for week 9 but unfortunately, these excursions have been postponed until next term due to the inclement weather.
2018 Kindergarten Information Night
Our school will host the 2018 Kindergarten Information Night on Thursday 22nd
June. If you have a child who is coming to LPS next year please mark this on your calendar. Please pass this information onto any family who has a child ready for ‘Big School’. Pre-schools have this information. Additional information is available by contacting the schools. I look forward to seeing many families on the night.
Have a great week and an enjoyable term.

Band News
I had a great experience at the rehearsal at Goonellabah PS last Wednesday. I thank all the teachers who worked with the students all day. I thought the percussion group was impressive and we had the opportunity to experiment with a variety of different instruments to prepare for our performances at the Lismore PAF in August. Sebastian B
The trumpet section at Goonellabah PS when we did Combined Band was good. We had one period of group practice before we joined with the saxophones for a session. At the end we all came together. I gave the day a solid 9 and a half out of 10 point score. Jesse A-G
When we arrived at Goonellabah PS we were sorted into different groups. The flute players (flautists) were sent to the music room, saxophone players (saxophonists) rehearsed in the library etc. Next, we had morning tea and then the flute players moved into the hall with the clarinet players and percussionists. After lunch, the rest of the musicians joined us in the hall. Overall I had an excellent time. Thanks to the parents that helped to transport us there and back to school. Linh L
I had an AWESOME day!
The LPS band students have been invited to attend the interactive tour of the Australian Chamber Orchestra this Thursday. After the excursion the band students will share their experience with their classmates through photos, stories and by exploring on-line resources available. Alannah Mc
