West Wyalong Public School NEWSLETTER
TERM 2 Week 7 Tuesday 9th June
2020
From the Principal’s Desk Welcome to week 7!
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend with family and friends. It’s hard to believe we are in week 7 already. Even though it’s been a very different term 2 so far, it’s certainly still flying by. We have had lots of learning time over the last week.
Semester 1 Reports – Every year we write two progress reports to provide a summary of your child’s progress. We will be still sending written reports out at the end of this term even though the end of term 1 and beginning of term 2 saw home learning take place. These reports will look different to our previous reports. In line with advice from the NSW Department of Education, our semester 1 school reports have been adjusted to cater for students learning from school and at home. Please be aware that all students may not have covered the same syllabus outcomes or content during this period. This report will not grade student achievement using the A-E scale for outcomes. The teacher’s comments will focus on English and Mathematics as well as a general comment to provide feedback about work habits and other KLAs. This report will also provide information about student attendance, their commitment to learning and semester 1 goals.
Attendance – I would like to mention how important it is that students are attending school every day. Throughout the week there a many times new concepts are taught and then consolidation of learning also takes place. It is hard when students are away regularly on the same day, as subjects are often taught on the same day every week, which results in whole concepts being missed. We are monitoring attendance daily and unexplained absences or prolonged illness without a doctor’s certificate will be referred to the Learning and Wellbeing Officer for follow up. After a disrupted end of term 1 and beginning of term 2, we need to optimize learning time. If there are issues with your child getting to school please contact your child’s teacher and discuss it with them.
Have a great week!
Jodi Penfold Relieving Principal
