From the Principal’s Desk Parking/Bus Gate We understand that parking at the beginning and end of our school days can be congested but we ask that everyone puts the safety of our students first. During these peak times, please drive and park carefully around our school. Take some extra time and park safely at the bottom gate or top gate area and please access the crossings that are available. It is also extremely important that parking does not interfere with our Bus Bay, the school bus schedule or the vision of our bus drivers....so please adhere to parking regulations and help keep our students safe. We also ask that parents do not use the staff carpark for drop off or pick up even if it is out of school hours. It can become a hazard with vehicles going in and out of this gate. 3-6 Swimming Last week was the final week of our 3-6 Swimming for Sport. All reports indicate that our primary students have made great progress in the water and their behaviour has been outstanding during these days. I would like to express a massive thank you to Miss Warmoll and Mrs Alcorn for their coordination of swimming and to all the staff who worked with our students on an extremely important life skill. Beyblade Arena A huge thank you must go to Mr Brendan Crampton for taking the initiative for some of our students and making a Beyblade arena for the playground. A number of our students have thoroughly enjoyed this new addition. It has definitely been a hit! Mr Crampton is hopefully going to make some more for us. If you have any old plough discs at home we would love to take them off your hands. Please call the school office. John Ireland - Principal School Council Update Notice is nearby given that the Quirindi Public School Council AGM will be held in the School Library at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 10 April, 2019. Willow Tree Horse Sports On Friday March 22 2019, nine students from Quirindi Public School attended the annual Willow Tree Public School Horse Sports day. The following students participated on the day: Tulloch Morgan, Savannah Peterson, Maddison Taylor, James Fincham, Oliver Frith, Alexandra Frith, Olivia Hill, Olivia Leonard and Bridie Palmer. The students had an excellent day and showed outstanding sportsmanship. Some results from the day:

Well done on a great day! The next horse sports day will be Quirindi Public School Horse Sports in May.

Pre payment for Excursions Deposits have been taken for a few of our excursions this year with some still to come. We understand that parents will have multiple children attending these excursions near the same time. Sometimes budgeting for these costs can be challenging. Therefore we are encouraging you to commence paying amounts to your child’s account to help reduce the burden. All monies can be brought straight to the office in an envelope with your child’s name, class and what excursion it is for. We are hoping by paying off over a large period of time will help our families in some way.

Del’s Corner I have recently been away to Tweed, Lismore, Lennox Head and the Gold Coast. I love the Google Maps app on my phone. It came in very handy. I would have been lost without it! How on earth did I manage to find places before this technology was available? A GPS (Global Positioning System) or Google Maps works because there are always 24 to 32 satellites orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 12,500 miles. These satellites send the information to our phones and work as guides when we do not know which way to go. Sometimes we need people-guides in our lives; people like your parents, grandparents, carers, principals, teachers, RE teachers, counsellors, chaplains and others. Never be afraid to reach out for help. We are here to help you keep on going forward when you feel lost and unsure of which way to go.

Zone Soccer On Tuesday, 17 of our students along with more from other surrounding schools travelled to Gunnedah to try out for the PSSA Soccer team. All the students played really well on a hot day. The games were long and everyone played their best. Thanks to Mr Ian Stutchbury for being there on the day for the teams. Olivia Cowan was successful in obtaining the position of goalkeeper on the team. Good luck in Armidale Olivia! ‘I was so excited when they said I had been chosen to represent Quirindi Public School in PSSA Zone Soccer Trials. On Tuesday, I travelled to Gunnedah and played soccer. We lost the first game 0-2, the second game we won 2-0. For the third game we lost 1-2 and the fourth game we lost 0-1.’ – Lachlan Stenner

Harmony Day School Visit On the Thursday 21 March, Pollyanna Thibault, Sophie Donoghue and Kaitlyn Curtin attended an Islamic School in Sydney to participate in a gesture of kindness and solidarity in light of Harmony Day 2019.
