Temporary Prayer and Mass Schedule for Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Daily Mass Mass will be held in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Church at 11:45 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These Masses w ill be livestreamed. Mass on Friday’s w ill be live streamed from the Church, but not open to the public. The Saturday 8:00 AM morning Mass will not be livestreamed. Temporary Weekend Mass Schedule To accommodate proper cleaning between Masses our weekend Mass schedule for Blessed Sacrament Cathedral is as follows: Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM and Sunday morning at 10:00 AM. Each of these Masses w ill be livestreamed. Private Prayer The Church will be open for private prayer on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM and on Sunday’s after Mass until 3:00 PM. On Saturdays, the Church’s sacred space itself will not be open for private prayer.

Confessions Confessions are normally held each Saturday in the Parish Social Hall beginning at 11:00 AM until finished. However, for the next two Saturdays, June 13 and June 20, there will be no confessions due to the ordination ceremonies. Masks are required of anyone entering the Church at any time and should be worn the entire time you are in any part of the Church building.

Cathedral Care Envelope

Every month in the regular collection envelope packets, there is a white envelope which says “Cathedral Care”. Many of you send this envelope in every month with your regular donation and it is very much appreciated. Some of you may be wondering what this Cathedral Care money is used for; here are just a few of the things: boiler and air conditioner repairs, painting of the rectory offices, spring landscaping and tree removal, Formation Center upkeep. There are many things that need repaired in old buildings such as those on the Cathedral properties. Your generous donations to Cathedral Care allow us to take care of these needs before they become a more costly problem.

The Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist & St. Joseph are continuing the 58” TV Raffle from the Fish Fry, for the next 2 weeks. It will run from June 1st to June 15th. It is still $1/ticket or $5.00 for 10 tickets! We also have our $1000 Cash Ticket available for purchase! It is set to go off on Sunday, June 28th with the PA Lottery Pick 3. It’s not unusual to feel angry, or frustrated, or confused. For some people, the pandemic restrictions can magnify feelings of anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, grief and a wide variety of other issues. Catholic Charities provides virtual counseling to help address those issues and more. Taking care of your own emotional well-being is very important to you and the people you love. Pathways registration open for 2020-21 Registration is open for Pathways, which is the diocese’s commitment to adult faith formation and nurturing mature discipleship. There are 12 evening sessions, three workshops and a closing retreat. Pathways is tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays from 6:30-9 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish, Scottdale. Donate Your Used Eyeglasses & Hearing Aids

The Lions Club collects old or unused eyeglasses and hearing aids to distribute to those who need them. There is a drop-off container in the vestibule of the church where these items can be placed for pick-up. Help the Lions Club by bringing your old or unused eyeglasses and hearing aids in for those who are less fortunate.

Copies of the re-issued cemetery regulations are available in a box located on the outside of the cemetery office building. These rules are also available on the Cathedral’s website at www.blessedsacramentcathedral.org. If you have any questions, please call the cemetery office at 724-836-4384.

Visiting the cemetery, the hours are: 8 AM - 8 PM.

Sponsorship Forms

Forms for parish members to serve as sponsors for Baptism or Confirmation can be completed in the Parish Office or with a priest at a weekend Mass. To act as a sponsor, you must be at least 16 years old, a practicing Catholic who has received Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist. If married, it must be within the guidelines of the Catholic Church. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment.

Baptisms

By appointment only. Contact Katie Zuzik in the Parish Office at least three months in advance of the Baptism. A class for parents is required to reflect on the meaning of the sacrament, review the Ceremony and to highlight the importance of family commitment to practicing the Catholic Faith. The requirements for Godparents are the same as for sponsors and can be found above and on the Parish website. Please contact Katie with any questions.

Weddings

Contact Sister Jeanne Marie Vonder Haar, A.S.C.J. in the Parish Office at least six months in advance. Do not set a date until contacting the Parish Office. Pre-marriage preparation classes are required.
